A fair majority of Melbourne was devastated when the news landed that legendary Fitzroy drinking spot Bimbo was gutted by a fire last year.
But, it’s time for the pub to rise from the ashes.
Bimbo is back and better than ever following a facelift and repairs of the damaged areas.
“We really wanted to invest heavily in bringing back the spirit of the Bimbo brand. Brunswick Street has always been one of the city’s premier night strips, but in recent years there has been a number of closures, so we think this is the perfect opportunity to honour its history and bring the neighbourhood back to life,” said Lawrence Dowd, Managing Director or Colonial Leisure Group.
The good news is that the famous $4 pizzas will definitely be back, alongside your favourite drink specials, and DJs playing all the right tunes.
New art will adorn the walls by local artists Filthy Ratbag, Elliot Routledge, and Kristin Liu Wong.
“I painted a couple of walls at Bimbo when I was 16. It was my first time ever doing something like that, so I am really looking forward to coming back a couple of years later to have a crack at painting the beer garden,” said Celeste AKA Filthy Ratbag.
Bimbo will reopen its doors on Wednesday 22 May.
