If Google Maps had a colour code for culture hotspots, Melbourne’s western ‘burbs would be bright red. And sadly if you don’t happen to live in the west, it’s not every day you can just casually stroll around Footscray with plenty to do. So that’s why all you culture vultures oughta listen up. The annual Due West Immersive Arts Festival is approaching and it’s your golden ticket to wander around the streets of the west with purpose.

So let's get you acquainted with Due West Immersive Arts Festival. Basically, it's an annual immersive arts festival dedicated to engaging festival-goers on multiple levels. Participating, engaging and interacting – you name it.

This year the program has an epic line-up of events that truly represents the diverse local community, and for festival-goers, it’s a unique opportunity to actively experience Melbourne’s ever-changing inner west through a creative lens.

Zoe Beyer, Festival Creative Director says, “We’ve worked closely with the local arts community to develop a program which is indicative of the vast talent in the west.”

This year the line-up features five major events including a floating opera along the Maribyrnong River, ten-minute dance parties, performances by the Australian Arts Orchestra, fire tornados and a massive vintage market you most likely know as Footscray Finds. And that's just for starters.

There will also be street talks in Footscray residential streets (intrigued, aren’t you?), activated installation spaces and live music competitions.

If that's not enough to lure you over the Westgate, we don't know what is.
