Gigs This Week in Melbourne
Let's Dance And Celebrate The Life Of Bowie
This Thursday at Ding Dong Lounge from 10pm till late you can pay your tributes to music icon David Bowie, sadly lost to us this week. With Bowie classics from 10pm-1am, and free entry if you dress up, this sounds like it's going to be a party of epic proportions.
Finnish singer-songwriter Mirel Wagner makes her Australian debut with a headline slot at Melbourne's Toff In Town, as well as appearances at Sydney Festival and Hobart's MOFO Festival. Described by Mojo as 'ghostly and erotic Delta blues', this sounds like exactly the kind of sexy music we need this Thursday night. Bring a date.
City of Stonnington's Sunset Sounds 2016 is a series of three free concerts in January, set in beautiful parks and gardens across Melbourne - and there will also be food trucks to boot! Emma Donovan and The PutBacks are this week's music offering, at Central Park on Sunday 17 January from 6pm.
QVM Night Market
Josh Cashman and Passerine are taking the stage tonight from 5.30pm at the Queen Victoria Night Market for their summer series - so make sure you get there after work for some tunes, market action, and all the foods! And the best bit? It's free!
On Sale Now
After releasing her lauded debut album, Aquarius, Tinashe will be heading to Melbourne again this May - mainly so that we can all attempt to do the dance moves from All Hands On Deck in person, right? Tickets are on sale from this coming Monday over at Live Nation - get in quick, her last Melbourne gig was packed, and rightly so.
Zoo Twilights is about to kick off! Every Friday and Saturday night from 29 January through to 12 March, this is set to be a super chilled affair - bring along a picnic rug, a few friends and all the delicious nibblies you can dream of (except for booze.) Sugar Mountain Festival
Sugar Mountain Festival was one of our favourite events this year, and we're calling it - it's the best new boutique festival out there. Tickets are on sale now for the 2016 event on Saturday 23 January, which will bring Hot Chip, Dirty Three, Courtney Barnett, Julio Bashmore, Royal Headache, Alpine and more to the stage at VCA. Our pick of the festival? The Sensory Restaurant on site, where they are combining sound, visuals and food for an experience you won't forget.
