Halloween events Melbourne

Decided it’s time to embrace the Halloween trend rather than fight it this year? We don’t blame you. And with Halloween falling on Saturday this lovely October, what further excuse do you need for getting all dressed up and playing tricks on your pals? Now before you rush out and get yourself a killer costume, cast your eyes of some of Melbourne best Halloween shindigs below. We think this year could be the best one yet!

Fright Night Halloween by Ideas Library

Metropol, St Kilda

Put on your scariest, wackiest, most hilarious costume for Fright Night Halloween at Metropol Bar in St Kilda and prepare for an epic night of all things frightfully fun. Tickets include unlimited beer, cider, wine and sparkling or house spirits (that’s pretty much open bar, guys!) plus live entertainment and tricks and treats from 8pm to 1am. Costumes are required, so get creative and dress to ‘kill’. These guys are serious: no costume, no entry, no kidding. For this one, you need to pre-purchase tickets so head on over to Eventbrite now to get yourself sorted.

Mitchelton Wines, Nagambie

For something a little less spooky and more on the gourmet side, why not head to Mitchelton Wines in Nagambie on Saturday 24th October for Hallowine, a decadent evening of indulgence showcasing local wine and produce, as well as a little Halloween trickery thrown in for good measure. Embrace the supernatural and explore the winery after dark, including the mystery and intrigue of the underworld cellars. There’ll be live entertainment from Ginger & the Ghost as well as a stack of secret guests and special performers on the night. Oh and leave your crazy spice girl costumes behind for this one; it’s all about glamour with a touch of the supernatural, darlings! Tickets are $150 each and are all-inclusive.

Forbidden Temple of the Cramps

The LuWow, Fitzroy

This Halloween, The LuWOW will be transformed into a shrine dedicated to punk-infused rock-and-roll band The Cramps. As a tribute night to one of the spookiest, most depraved bands ever, the party will be rocked by musical acts including Melbourne’s own The Exotics, Hypno Sex Ray (playing an entire set of Cramps covers) and two drop dead gorgeous Poison Ivy lookalikes. Slurp up horrifically decorated cocktails, like eyeball martinis and zombie creations, while you enjoy a deranged mix of ancient dance crazes, disturbed soul and swinging creepers. This one is definitely something you don’t want to miss. And if you impress the door dwellers, you’ll get in free. Win.

Glamp, CBD

Glamp Cocktail Bar in the CBD has launched an uber cool party series this spring/summer season and naturally Halloween gets a run with its black light voodoo party. Head on over in your best Halloween get-up for a night of non-stop dancing and entertainment, and take advantage of the amazing UV body-painters all ready to give your costume something a little extra. Prizes will be awarded for best dressed on the night, including a complimentary table for four to Glamp’s ‘All you Can Meat’ Tuesday nights. Enjoy drinks specials all night long, including $10 cocktails and $5 test tube shots. Entry fee is just $10.

The Asylum, Melbourne

Put your sanity to the ultimate test and dare to be admitted to The Asylum Haunted House, possibly Melbourne’s craziest Halloween event yet. For the first time since its closure in 1895, you and your bravest of pals will be able to walk the halls of one of Australia’s oldest insane asylums while you take in horrifying scenes set up specifically to get you feeling… well errr… PETRIFIED! Think blood, gore and everything else you’d expect to find in a terrifying horror movie at your every turn. Warning: this one is not for the faint-hearted.

Freaky Tiki

Aloha Sailor, Collingwood

Immerse yourself in Halloween fun with Aloha Sailor’s Freaky Tiki cocktail party! This much-loved pop-up bar will be gone for good at the end of November, so make sure you use this opportunity to see it in full swing. Complete with Mexican sugar skull face-painting, rum served in skulls and walking dead hula dancers, it’s sure to be a night to remember. Wear your scariest costume with a little tiki flavour; perhaps the ghost of a long-lost sailor or a dead exotic dancer? Tickets are just $25 and include a special tiki cocktail on arrival, entertainment and a few special surprises! Go on, you know you wanna!
