Putting aside our feelings for people who use words like ‘brinner’ and ‘linner’ in everyday conversation, breakfast for dinner truly is a beautiful thing. It’s right up there with cereal for afternoon tea.
So it’s kind of weird that it’s taken Melbourne so long to host a food festival around the concept. Goodbye house deposits, hello Brinner Fest.
Brinner Fest is a breakfast for dinner pop-up that’s taking over 206 Bourke St on Friday 25 August. Here’s a little peep at what’s on the cards. For starters, Toasta will be on hand, slinging sourdough smashed av’ (along with their signature cheese blend toasties). Fancy Hanks is bringing the smoked bacon tacos with scrambled egg and pulled pork. My Two Mums is even chipping in with an ice-cream sandwich, covered in Fruit Loops and Coco Pops. Sweet mother of God.
There’ll also be breakfast-themed cocktails to get you in the mood. Expect Strawberry Jam Coladas, Marmalade Martinis and Grapefruit Slammers, not to mention Espresso Martinis by the dozen (because coffee).
Oh yeah, one more thing. If you’re one of the first 50 people through the door, you eat and drink whatever you want for FREE*.

Given up on the whole mortgage thing? This cafe is giving away smashed av's to renters. Legit.
