Hold your horses Hawthorn! And say hello to Huxtaburger.
Yes, that’s right, there’s soon to be a new Huxtaburger in Hawthorn, bringing all the fan faves to the hungry suburb. Set to open on 681 Glenferrie Road come late May, this area is already eager for fab food, with Fonda and Yo-Chi nearby, and a light stretch of the legs to Axil Coffee Roasters.
But we all know Huxtaburger can handle their own, especially when they’ll be serving up the existing much-loved and drool-inducing menu of some of Melbourne’s best burgers. The whole family is coming to Huxtaburger Hawthorn, from the original Huxtaburger with beef and all the traditional trimmings, to the hotter and saucier versions such as Denise with jalapeño and sriracha mayo, or Theo with bacon, double pattie, double cheese and bbq sauce.
Others to look out for are Bill (think pineapple and egg), Sondra (some top tofu), Rudy (kids chow down) and what our personal daydreams are made of, Clair. We’re talking Southern fried chicken with slaw and jalapeño mayo. We’re so in love, we even wrote an article about it.
The announcement to open a Huxtaburger in Hawthorn is fresh off the press, arriving after a limited edition burger release as of yesterday! We wonder if the tasty Tonkatsu Burger with crumbed Australian pork loin, apple and fennel coleslaw and Tonkatsu mayo will be on the Glenferrie Road burger menu? We sure hope it makes the cut!
Huxtaburger’s Carlton fans will also be sad to see the popular pop-up in the John Curtin Hotel close down at the end of April, signaling the end of their time in the Kitchen in Residency initiative. But foodies don’t be forlorn, Bluebonnet Barbecue is set to take over from the sexy pattie slingers, so there will still be some top notch grub to lick your fingers to while you tap your foot to some rad live beats.
