We have some sad news, guys. Long Story Short over in Port Melbourne are closing their doors...this Sunday. Better to rip off the bandaid, we guess.
Note: this could be our fault. We did taunt the universe when we found out Pope Joan was shutting down. We were young and naïve! It happens!
But back to the point. Basically, the much-loved Melbourne brunch spot, known largely for their fairy floss breakfast burger, has been sold to an anonymous buyer. There are plans to turn the Melbourne staple into a new food hub with a family focus, with renovations potentially starting as early as next Monday.
What we do know is they’ve got some big shoes to fill. Goodbye Tim Tam pancakes, farewell hot chocolate sphere, sayonara activated charcoal fish and chips. Okay, that last one we’re not so sad about...
There is one silver lining: the brand's Brunswick cafe is still safe and sound, and there’s going to be extra focus on growing owners Ly and Dario’s most recent venture, Stretched Pizza. You know, the one with the 'pho pizza'.
Plus, as a thank you to their loyal customers, Long Story Short are giving away free glasses of pink Moscato to every customer this Sunday. Get down and send the old girl off in style...
Deep breaths. We’re gonna be okay.
