BREAKING NEWS: The final tickets have now been released, with previously sold-out events now up for grabs! Yep, the Gourmet Beach BBQ, Feast in the Forest...get to it before they sell out for good.
Yeesh, Listers. Where to even begin? Feasting in the forest? Beachside drinks and seafood so fresh you basically eat it out of the water? Long lunching in a winery?
Yep, Margaret River Gourmet Escape presented by Audi is back for another year, and you better get on those tickets because they’re selling like freakshakes. It’s the ultimate Food & Wine Festival in Australia, attracting 50 international, Australian and local chefs, and scooping up multiple national awards. Say hello to Marco Pierre White, enjoy dinner by George Calombaris, and try Zumbo for dessert. It’s enough to make any-self respecting foodie sit up and pay attention.
Pack for breezy beaches, because this is no ordinary food festival—this is eating and drinking at its best, along the stunning coastlines (and forests) of WA.
Here’s what we’ll be doing at Margaret River Gourmet Escape.
Once we’ve had Brunch with the Best, we’re hitting the Gourmet Village, with almost a hundred stalls featuring the best WA restaurants, producers and premium wines in the gorgeous surroundings of Leeuwin Estate Winery. There’s plenty of craft brewery and cocktail action to switch up the drinks action too.
For breaks in between all the festivities (and to make more space for eating, of course), wander along parts of WA’s Cape to Cape walk, or explore the region’s legendary forests, caves and beaches.
The new Long Table Lunch at Margaret River’s Secret Garden would be our next stop. Set in one of the most prestigious private gardens amongst flowering crab apple trees, irises and roses, there’ll be plenty to admire. We’re including the lunch in this too, since it will be prepared by Vladimir Mukhin, who has been placed 23rd on The World’s 50 Best Restaurant List—so you know it’s going to be deeeelicious.
If you missed Melbourne’s Brothl, for one night only Joost Bakker and Matt Stone will be bringing it all back to life with Paul Iskov of Fervor. Brothl and Fervor will ensure no good food from the events goes to waste. As is their signature style, there will be plenty of native and foraged ingredients to add a totally unique touch to each bite.
And what would a trip to WA be without witnessing one of its spectacular sunsets? Finish off a day by saluting the sun with wine in hand on the beach—it’s all just part of the Sunset, Beats and Bites featuring delicious wines curated by wine writer Nick Stock, and Surahn from Empire Of The Sun/DFA Records behind the decks.
There are dozens more dinners and barrels of wine to sip your way through, but the best way to go is with a travel package where all your details and transport are taken care of, so you can just swan on in to the almost sold out Gourmet Beach BBQ set on the pristine Castle Bay Beach, and the stunning Feast in the Forest. Or book one of the weekend ticket packages on offer.
Margaret River Gourmet Escape presented by Audi takes place in the stunning Margaret River Wine Region this November 20th - 22nd.
