Gone are the days of stalking your favourite four-wheeled restaurant across the state - Melbourne foodies have voted with their bottomless stomachs to achieve a historic foodie feat!

Melbourne is finally getting five permanent food truck precincts across the CBD, with locations promised at the NGV/Arts Centre, Queen Victoria Market and three sites along Flinders Street near the Yarra River. The sites will be operational by March next year.

17 of Melbourne’s finest wheel-y dining institutions will be handpicked to represent the best street food in Melbourne. Some food trucks will be permanent fixtures; others will rotate monthly to provide delectable diversity. Food trucks will be chosen based on criteria like healthy food options, high-quality presentation and a commitment to sustainable practices.

With potential options like Mr Burger, Soul Kitchen and The Brûlée Cart at your hungry fingertips – you can fork packing lunch in 2017.
