Six weeks of Love Island wasn’t enough for you, huh? No worries, we know exactly where to head this weekend if you want an eyeful of Cassidy. Or maybe you’re thirsty for a run-in with Troy from Married At First Sight? Or perhaps Flo from The Bachelor is more your cup of tea? Either way, the hunt is on and we know the best hot spots to cop a glance of your favourite scorned reality stars.
Here’s everywhere to visit this weekend if you want to run into an Aussie celebrity.
Whoever runs this cafe is doing it as a front for celebrity poaching because anyone who’s even blinked in front of a TV camera has had Legacy Camberwell slide into their DMs and invite them over from a complimentary eggs benny. We’re talking literally everyone from the last two seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, as well as Bachelor In Paradise and Love Island. Our favourite Dutch exchange student Flo also checks in there almost thrice weekly.
Confirmed sighting: Flo & Keira (Bachelor / In Paradise), Cassidy & Erin (Love Island), Telv & Patrick (MAFS).
Our favourite Cali-style Japanese fusion restaurant, Morris Jones, recently had a fresh makeover and has been drawing crowds of Aussie c-list celebs over the last couple of months. This one is worth travelling to Chapel Street for, but a cheeky eyeful of Married At First Sight’s resident ‘chef’, Troy, is a nice little bonus.
Confirmed sightings: Troy, Nick, Sean, Nadia (MAFS), Sasha (BIP), The Real Dads Of Melbourne (Instagram), Tully (Big Brother).
Our other favourite Asian fusion shindig on Chapel Street is, of course, Mr Miyagi—home to the best salmon nori tacos in the whole damn city, nay, country. C-list stars have been swarming to their tables for years. Whether it’s for the promise of a free meals, or simply because, like us, they love it, we don’t know. All we do know is that you can almost guarantee that a visit brings with it the promise of a few cheeky celeb run-ins.
Confirmed sightings: Keira & Jarrod (Bachelor In Paradise), Cassidy (Love Island), Mitchell Orval (AngryDad) & Renae Ayris (Miss Universe).
Abacus Bar & Kitchen
If you’re looking to combine your weekend celeb spotting with a classy Sunday brunch, then Abacus is the venue for you. It’s open for brekkie, lunch and dinner and has oodles of tables filled with your favourite tellie fillers on any given weekend.
Confirmed sightings: Flo on the reg (The Bachelor).
Rebel Blue is relatively fresh on the scene, boasting a Greek restaurant and ritzy wine bar, and it’s taking a page out of Legacy Camberwell’s books by inviting everyone who’s anyone to check out its fresh digs (and post about it on Facey B and/or Insta of course).
Confirmed sightings: George Calombaris (Masterchef), Telv, Nick, Troy & Carly (MAFS), Cassidy & Francoise (Love Island), Tully (Big Brother).
If a big dose of culture is more your thing, then a weekend trip to the National Gallery of Victoria is on the cards for you. Right now its MoMA exhibition is attracting throngs of big names, possibly a little ‘classier’ than your typical C-list celeb cafe crowd, but equally as exciting.
Confirmed sightings: Tully (Big Brother), Shaynna Blaze (The Block), Will Smith (Men In Black), Pia Miranda (Looking For Alibrandi).
Anyone who’s anyone on Australian television has taken a cheeky selfie, coffee in-hand, on the tan. It’s a sacred Melbourne ritual and it makes for a ripper Saturday morning adventure if you’re someone who gets their kicks from locking eyes with a New Idea front cover centrepiece like the couple from hell, Troy and Carly.
Confirmed sightings: Tully (Big Brother), Troy & Carly (MAFS), Cassidy (Love Island), The Real Dads Of Melbourne (Insta), MANY AFL players.
Just because you can never have too many smashed avos, Short Straw is another celeb hotspot to spend an ‘extended’ brekkie at this weekend. Even without celebrity drop-ins, it’s already one of the most popular cafes in Melbourne. Add a sprinkle of former Big Brother contestants and you’ve got yourself a royal feast.
Confirmed sightings: Cassidy (Love Island), Tully (Big Brother) and Steph Smith (Bondi Sands).
