Melbourne Cup Carnival is set to be bigger and better than ever. With the addition of a new precinct— The Park—you can expect a dazzling lights, camera, action experience and the best bit is that entry to The Park is FREE! The four days of the carnival are set to be the ultimate Melbourne experience and we can't think of anywhere better to soak up the atmosphere than this new precinct. Here are the highlights that you shouldn't miss.
Fashions On The Field
Myer Fashions On The Field is now an absolute races highlight, showcasing the most fashionable men and women of Australia. If you’re not partaking on the parade, head along anyway – the atmosphere at The Park is chic and there’s a definite buzz around the competition.
Enjoy A Pamper Sesh
Chances are you’re pretty glammed up before you arrive at the races, but that’s no reason not to enjoy a bit of a freshen up later in the day. Grab your gang of girls and head to the L’Oréal Paris Powder Room for an express pamper session from the best in the beauty biz. You’ll find the L’Oréal Paris Powder Room in The Park.
Stick around The Park towards the end of the day and you’ll be able to party on to some live music. The lineup accross the Melbourne Cup Carnival reads something like a premier Australian music festival. AAMI Victoria Derby Day will see City Calm Down and The Rubens take the stage, along with youtube sensations Cookin’ on 3 Burners. Pop is the order of the day for the Emirates Melbourne Cup, where race goers will be entertained by Betty Who, Marcia Hines and Disco Inferno. Crown Oaks Day will kick things up a notch with performances from artist-of-the-moment Vera Blue, who will be followed by SAFIA and Illy (we can't wait for Illy and Vera Blue to join forces for a performance of Papercuts). Emirates Stakes Day will get in to the family vibes with Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s ‘Very Big Laugh Out’ taking the stage. This is a concert that includes comic artists with captivating skills in circus, mime and physical comedy. All this fun will be followed by a performance from popular funk band Saskwatch, and YouTube sensation William Singe.
Tuck Into Melbourne's Best Food
We all know there's a ton of dining package options for the races, but what if you're just after a simple bite to eat? Food wise, The Park is where it's at with Melbourne's favourite foodie destinations popping up to give racegoers plenty of choice. Huxtaburger, Biggie Smalls Kbabs, Saigon Sally, Hanoi Hannah and Gelato Messina will all be there to keep your energy levels high.
Grab A Cocktail
When it comes to drinks at this year’s Melbourne Cup Carnival, you’ll be more than a bit spoilt for choice. If you pop down to The Park, you’ll find the Yellowglen Terrace; the answer to all your champagne dreams. The James Boags Premium Bar will be serving the best in beer and if you’re after a gorgeous, colourful beverage, the Cocktail Garden is where it’ll all be happening.
Take A Ride On A Carousel
Get in touch with your inner child and check out the carousel that ‘ll be situated in The Park. It’s a heritage ride and we don’t know about you, but it takes us right back to some of our best childhood memories. Where better than to ride a horse carousel than at the races?!
Enjoy The Ultimate View
The entertainment at the Melbourne Cup Carnival has really stepped up a notch this year, with the addition of an old-school Ferris wheel. Grab a mate, jump aboard and fly high. Make sure you take your phone so can snap the very best pictures high above all the action.
