Move over, Hotel Windsor. The cake and tea goddesses from Mary Eats Cake are launching Gin High Tea sessions next month, and our bodies are ready.
Mary Eats Cake is combining three of our favourite things (tea, alcohol and cake… duh) in one delicious event. We're talking special-release tea blends, gin cocktails and gin-inspired desserts (plus the obligatory finger sandwiches).
A bit of background for you: Mary Eats Cake was founded by tea sommelier Sarah De Witt, and French pastry chef, Jessica Hillbrick. It opened in Brunswick back in 2017, and its massive success has led to the launch of a second venue in Montrose, earlier this year. It's one of the few high tea joints in town that does cocktails.
But back to this gin thing. This August the dynamic duo are taking things to the next level. They’re collab'ing with Mary’s favourite local distillery, Four Pillars, to bring you the ultimate blend of tea, gin and cake.
So what can you expect? Gin and tea cocktails, for starters, plus a full high tea experiences: four savoury items, unlimited scones with jam and cream, and three desserts.
Not enough? Good, because we’re not done. You'll also get matching gin drinks, specialty teas designed by a tea sommelier, a tasting station where you can try gins and chat to one of the distillers (beware, lightweights) and a tasting station to try different tea blends.
It'll only be running for two nights only, so get in quick. Tickets are $65 bucks per person, and that includes gin. Kids not invited, soz.
Where: Mary Eats Cake
When: August 10 & 17, 6.30pm – 9.00pm.
