As much as we dig our hole-in-the-wall and laneway hot spots across the city, there’s something to be said about a venue that offers a spacious setting and spectacular views. From rooftop bars to beachside hangs we’ve rounded up 8 of Melbourne’s best venues with a view. Summer, here we come!

#1: Café Lafayette

Port Melbourne

This fancy little café is perched right on Beach Street and offers stunning views of the Port Melbourne bayside. Open 6:30am – 9pm 7 days a week, the café is well equipped to suit those early risers and those after a neat place to tuck in to dinner by the water. Chic design and a delectable menu make Café Lafayette an absolute delight!

#2: Lui Bar

Melbourne CBD

On the 55th floor of the Rialto and attached to sister venue Vue De Monde is the impeccable Lui Bar, one of Melbourne’s chicest bars offering a menu second to none. Dark and decadent is the design and boy, what a view. If you’re looking for a sophisticated date spot with the romantic sight of sundown, Lui Bar is your jam.

#3: Nobu

Southbank

With restaurant venues worldwide, Nobu brings top-notch Japanese cuisine and sharp design to Melbourne’s Crown Entertainment Complex. The venue offers stunning views of both the banks of the Yarra River and the restaurant’s interiors detailed with cherry blossom adorned ceilings, burnished woods and rich hues that make for an exquisite dining setting.

#4: Pilgrim Bar

Melbourne CBD

Right on the water at Federation Wharf is Pilgrim bar, a must-visit for those after a drink or bite in the open-air in the heart of the city. Just a short walk away from Federation Square the bar is well known for its boutique range of Australian wine and spirits. Stop by for a drink after work or spend a slow Sunday afternoon tucking in to the bar’s delicious eats.

#5: Naked In The Sky

Fitzroy

Keep trotting those stairs above Naked For Satan and you’ll find Naked In The Sky, an open terrace with an attached bar, lounge and restaurant. These guys offer a menu keeping with the tapas style theme of downstairs coupled with the open air, city views and a full-length sight of Brunswick Street.

#6: Ponyfish Island

Southbank

Hello, river party! Ponyfish is situated in the middle of the Yarra River under the pedestrian bridge and is the go-to for chilled afternoon sessions through to late summer nights. Enjoy gorgeous city views from the water, mouthwatering plates and house made beer and cider.

#7: Republica

St Kilda Sea Baths

Where better to kick back with some cocktails by the beach than at St Kilda’s Republica? With menu specials throughout the week and beach volleyball sessions on Wednesday and Thursday, it’s the perfect place for enjoying the scenery or getting amongst the action. For those keen for a weekend groove, Republica showcase live music from 1pm on Saturday and 12pm Sunday. We’ll see you there!

#8: Eureka 89

Southbank

It wouldn’t be a list of Melbourne’s best venues with a view without the classic Eureka 89—Melbourne’s tallest tower offering 360-degree views of the city. Available for tables of 2-24 from 6pm Tuesday through to Saturday, if you’re wanting to see the breathtaking sight that is Melbourne by night, this is the place to do it.
