We’ve all got one. A mate who reckons they’re the Pope of Chilli Town, born with a fireproof stomach and the courage of an SAS paratrooper. Well get ready to tag the hell out of them, because Chilangos is unleashing their Hottest Burrito Challenge this month in Melbourne.
Let’s break this thing down. Each burrito weighs a hefty 1kg, and comes slathered in a secret death sauce, made from a combination of Chipotle, Arbol, Serrano & Habanero chilies. You can choose your filling from grilled chicken, slow-cooked beef, pulled pork, spiced fish and mixed veg.
Chilangos have sportingly offered each contestant a glass of their Horchata (a house blend Agua Fresca, made from milk, rice, cinnamon and sugar). Whoever smashes their burrito fastest, wins.
So what do you get for shredding your gastrointestinal system? Quite a bit actually. Chilangos is offering $500 in food and drink vouchers for the winner, and $250/$100 for second and third respectively. Glory and honour and other stuff like that will also be involved.
It might be a while before you’re physically able to eat Mexican food after this, but still, sweet prize. Registrations close on the 17 November, so get on it.
Where: Chilangos Mexican Cantina, Goldsbrough Ln CBD
