Sweat It Out With These Virtual Classes From Your Favourite Gyms

You can’t go to your favourite group sweat session right now and the outdoor gyms have been shut down from Princess Park right across to Elwood, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get that heart rate up a notch or two from home with some of your favourite trainers and studios offering up their services online.

Start aiming for your WFH PB now, because things are about to get sweaty.

The Athlete’s Mindset

A pandemic isn’t an excuse to stop exercising, and trainer Tamara Kennedy will be the first to remind you of that. The Athlete’s Mindset is an online training program designed to bring the athlete out in you with fad-free, no-bs training. Tamara’s trained a grip of elite athletes including current world champion surfer Italo Ferreira and more AFL players than you could list off, so you know she’s the real deal. 

Downtown Studio 

For those who’d rather ease their way into their iso exercise regime, Downtown Studio is offering mat pilates and yoga classes online daily. With a focus on simple, compound movements to achieve full-body training, all skill levels are welcome. Check their website for their weekly schedule

Gym, institute or cult? F45 shut their doors a little over halfway into their last eight-week cycle, but members can still access their daily classes via the Challenge app. If you’ve been tempted to sign up/your life away to the almighty fitness leaders, reduced rates are available for their virtual classes. 

12Round Fitness 

Boxing and fitness gurus 12Round have chucked their epic program up online. It’s all housed in a tidy app that gives you access to live-streamed classes, an eBook that’ll explain everything you need to know for your session and access to a coach. There’s a free trial for anyone wanting to dip their toes in before committing. 

Keep on eye on the 12Round Facebook for masterclasses with the likes of Australian boxing champ Danny Green.

Healthy Fit

Northside gem Healthy Fit is doing online training with a personal touch. About as full-service as an online gym could get, there’s nutrition coaching, personal training, semi-private training and group training available in live-stream format. The only thing you need to do now is pick your trainer. 

Bodhi & Ride

The authority in spin, Bodhi & Ride, is taking you for a ride online. It goes without saying that you’ll benefit most from owning your own spin cycle here, but if you don’t, the option to rent one is worth considering, The next step is to recreate those signature ride-chambers at home—chuck on the mood lighting.

HIIT classes and guided meditation have also been added to the calendar to keep your body and mind healthy.

Orange Theory

Anyone who’s trained with Orange Theory will know it’s basically like having your own hype man g-ing you up throughout your workout, and their online classes are no exception to the rule. The science-backed workouts are short and punchy so you can chuck one on morning, midday, arvo or night. Get to it for free on the Orange Theory Instagram.

Kaya Health Club 

Kaya take a holistic approach to health and fitness by covering off the mind and body in everything they do. It begins with pilates reformer, yoga, barre and boxing, but online classes go much further with mindful eating activities and good reads sessions to truly help get you in the zone.
