With concerts off the cards, and festivals cancelled for the near future, outdoor events in Australia have just about come to a standstill. We’re desperate for some fun that will get us out of the house and instill a sense of normalcy back into our lives without risking our health. That’s where the new Parking Lot Social comes in, a new, lockdown appropriate event from the crew behind Big Bounce Australia (that gigantic bouncy castle that popped up a few months ago).
The Parking Lot Social is a supersized drive-in event unlike anything Australia has ever seen before. 250 carloads of guests will be immersed in an incredible multi-sensory experience that brings together everything you love about major music festivals and outdoor events to make for one truly unforgettable night—without breaking any physical distancing rules.
The centre stage at this epic event will draw you in with its towering 16-metre-tall fire hydrant that shoots rainbows over the two giant inflatable gorillas below. Between the gorillas, you’ll be treated to everything from live music to stand-up comedy to keep you dancing and laughing the whole night long, all from the comfort of your car.
On either side of our inflatable friends, you’ll find massive 12 metre long screens playing movies, displaying trivia questions and hosting games. Warm up your vocal chords to prepare for some ‘Car-A-Oke,’ and whip out your best dance moves at the silent disco. Every night during the pop-up there will be live bands, interactive trivia and bingo games, stand-up comedians, movie showings, food, drinks, and a whole lot more.
The only downside? The Parking Lot Social won’t be around forever—they’re touring Australia as of July this year, with stops in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Tickets will be released in stages but be warned—they will no doubt sell out super-fast. To avoid disappointment, register your interest for early-bird tickets by heading to their website.
