burnley-brewing

Dogs doing javelin and pierogi-fuelled partying. That’s just a mere sample of goss from the buffet of Melbourne news that you’ve been too busy practising your stand-up debut act to notice. We get it—the MCIF comedown is rough. But there’s about a trillion silver linings happening RN.

Here’s what’s gone down in Melbs this week...

  • We’ve assembled an unofficial itinerary for your Anzac Day. After the Dawn Service (and 25 Anzac biccies), brunch is on the menu.

  • First it was Lygon St and Chapel St. Now, you can get your Pidapipo ice cream scoop at the new Degraves St digs. All bases are covered and you'll never go a night without your choc-mint fix again.

  • Baby Pizza are collaborating with Maker & Monger for a month of oozy, cheesy menu additions. God, they're good to us. It’s dubbed FORMAGGIO and you’ve gotta see it to brie-lieve it. Starts on 1 May.

  • Sensational news for Friday knock-off drinks and cheers-ing boomerangs. The InterContinental Melbourne’s Market Lane Bar is popping the cork on a new three-hour Happy Hour called '180 Market Minutes'. How many Espresso Martinis can one nurse in that space of time? All of them.

  • Beer is now ever-flowing from a 5 hectolitre (!!) brewery system at Burnley Brewing. 500 LITRES OF FROTHIES. Let that sink in. Bartenders will serve up your bevs straight from the tanks.

  • Melb’s Mediterranean gem, Bar Lourinhã is bringing paella back, back again. The rollout of a new lunchtime menu will see you feasting like bona fide Barca locals. Holy yes.

  • Industry Beans have upped the ante in the coffee stakes with a new (and free) app. Basically, you can earn points for your purchases, which can then be redeemed for more coff and food. About time someone invented such a glorious cycle.

  • Foxes Den (our favourite healthy chicken and salad bar ) has a new South West chicken flavour, folks. The first new flavour in four years. We ate a whole chicken ourselves this week, and can confirm it's bloody good.

  • Ola ride-share service has launched in Melbs. It’s a mahoossive ride-sharing platform already getting a tonne of Aussies from A to B. Best bit? There's an introductory offer of rides FO’ FREE. Get on it.

  • There’s a free pierogi party coming at us with dumplings, vods, and Turkish disco/funk tunes—a truly dreamy trinity. If you’re not pencilling that in yet, we’re concerned.

  • Melbourne is hosting a Common-Woof Games next month. Because we can. And who doesn’t want to see a herd of puppers playing competitive basketball?

  • We’ve finally scored an IPPUDO. Thank you ramen Gods. After sitting idly by as Sydney and Perth slurped on the good stuff, we no longer have to board a plane to get our hands around one of those signature bowls.

  • We checked out Bontempo on Brunswick, from the clever crew that brought us Fratellino Pizzeria. They're pumping out even more wheels of deliciousness, Northside. Nice.
