QV Melbourne Outdoor Cinema Pop-Up

Did you hear? Melbourne CBD shopping precinct QV is setting up a deckchair cinema over summer, and they even want you to bring your pooch! These dog-friendly screenings will run until February 2016 and feature a number of Aussie flicks, Christmas classics and 80s gems. Awkward Christmas Portraits at Melbourne Central

One word: Yes. Christmas is only weeks away and Melbourne Central is kicking off the silly season with an internetz lover’s dream - an awkward Christmas Portraits pop-up! Queue daggy Christmas sweaters, cheesy backdrops and awkward expressions from you, the fam, and your pals. The portrait pop-up will be open until the 20th of December. Made In House Part Deux at No Vacancy Gallery Fed Square

Catch the works of local artists Fiona Skipper, George Rose, and Steve Leadbeater in the exciting conclusion to Redbubble’s artistic residency program. From large typography pieces to exquisite illustrations, there is much to be admired from these Melbourne artists during the exhibition running ‘til December 13th. Entry is free and operating hours are 11:00am-5pm Tuesday-Saturday and 12-5pm Sundays.

A Taste of TAM Exhibtion

Thou Art Mum or ‘TAM’, a Diamond Valley network of over 40 female visual artists are showcasing their next exhibition A Taste of TAM with the show wrapping up this Sunday. The exhibition is in celebration of a decade of TAM, and will feature works by its artists across painting, drawing, sculpture, textiles, printmaking, glasswork, ceramics and photography. Japanese Film Festival at ACMI

Ben & Jerry’s Open Air Cinemas at St Kilda Beach

Live music, open air cinemas and all of the ice cream? Um, hell yes! After a cracking year in 2014, the Ben & Jerry’s Open Air Cinemas returns to St Kilda beach to channel all your summer kick-back vibes. Flicks will include The Martian, He Named Me Malala, the latest Bond film Spectre, and a Clueless 20th Anniversary screening. Book in for a Sundae Session and you will be able to lap up unlimited ice cream, plus get amongst some putt-putt and giant cow jenga. Viva Cuba! Exhibition at LUMAS Melbourne

Viva Cuba! kicks off at LUMAS this Thursday in celebration of the island’s nostalgic charm, its architecture, and lively atmosphere. The exhibition will feature selected works by Werner Pawlok, Luigi Visconti, and Larry Yust, with a preview event held on Thursday night at 6pm including special offers and drinks available for visitors. Viva Cuba! will run until December 13th and entry is free.

Mapping Melbourne 2015 by Multicultural Arts Victoria

Friday 4th

The Coburg Night Market at Bridges Reserve

The Coburg Night Market returns for it’s 6th year and is here to bless us with Friday night market goodness! Food trucks, artisan crafts, live music and dance sessions (there will be twerking and go-go-ing) - you know it’s going to be a good time. Running from 5:30-10pm on Friday December 4th, 11th and 18th, make sure you don’t miss out on this summer market gem!

Moonflower Night Market at St Kilda Town Hall

There’s a new night market in town, Melbourne. St Kilda welcomes the Moonflower Night Market, a vintage market to be held every Friday night from December 4th through to the end of January 2016. Snap up vintage and retro wares while catching loads of live entertainment, chowing down on street food, and sipping that craft beer. Entry is free, with the market running from 5-10pm.

Big Design Market at the Royal Exhibition Building

It’s your favourite time of year, market lovers! The Big Design Market is back this weekend to bring you three epic days of independent designer goodness. With over 230 stalls across homewares, textiles, fashion, furniture, stationery, and children’s items, we’ve got our Christmas stockings at the ready! Food will be provided by some of the city’s best-loved food trucks including Taco Truck, Beatbox Kitchen and All Day Donuts so you’ll have all the fuel you’ll need to cover the entire venue. Saturday 5th

Friends Of The Earth Perry Street Festival

Hit up Smith Street in Collingwood this Saturday for Friends Of The Earth’s Perry Street Festival! From 10am-6pm the corner of 312 Smith Street will be full of street-style partying featuring loads of live music, vegetarian food, home-made cakes, organic produce, books, records, plants, arts and crafts and vintage clothing. We’ll see you there!

Fitzroy Film Fair at The LuWOW

The 2nd Fitzroy Film Fair is brimming with all things film. For just $5 entry to The LuWOW, spend an afternoon in a film frenzy, with stalls featuring new and secondhand DVDs, Blue-ray and VHS items, posters, books, soundtracks, and collectibles. The Fair will have an open bar set up, pumping out live music by The Coast Busters and DJ The Screaming Meanies. Fitzroy Film Fair runs from 12-5pm with further deets via their Facebook page

Piggy, Poitín & Potato Festival at The Last Jar

The Last Jar and Glendalough Distillery are banding together to bring you a celebration of poitíin – the Irish moonshine equivalent this Saturday. Catch the festival from 1-6pm for a chance to learn about poitín (pronounced “potcheen”), how it’s made and how to slurp it down. A sweet suckling pig spit will be roasting on the rooftop, with piggy and potato platters available throughout the afternoon – plus, special poitín cocktails will be available for just $10! Entry to the event is free, but bring some cash along to cover those platter eats.

Sunday 6th

Slide Melbourne 2015

For the kid in all of us: Hell yeah we want to slip down the world’s longest street water slide! Summer is here and we are ready to slide along 400 metres of Lansdowne Street, East Melbourne to celebrate. The day will be split into five two-hour sessions starting at 10am, 12pm, 2:15, 4:15 and 6:15. Tickets for the event are $41 and can be purchased via Trybooking. The Very Merry Paleo Connection Market in Geelong

Attention paleo peeps: Melbourne’s The Paleo Connection is hosting their Christmas market this Sunday, with loads of paleo-inspired stallholders, masterclasses and talks, plus live entertainment. Catch the market at Vines Road Community Centre in Geelong from 8am-2pm to stock up on all your needs for a Merry Paleo Christmas!

Winedown 2015 at the Railway Hotel Fitzroy

Blackhearts & Sparros have teamed up with Georgio de Maria Fun Wines and Neighbourhood Wine to bring you a Melbourne spin on Sydney’s Rootstock Food & Wine Festival. Head over to the Railway Hotel in Fitzroy from 2-10pm, share a glass with some of the most innovative natural wine makers, and chat with them about their craft. Entry is free!
