Brunch is a rite of passage for Melburnians and with the ever increasing number of cafes catering to food intolerances and allergies, you no longer need to BYO gluten-free bread or miss out on this important weekend ritual. To help out, the lovely Em and Ash from Eatable have put together a list of their favourite allergy-friendly cafes in Melbourne. Dig in.

TOFWD | MELBOURNE CBD

Navigate through the tourists on Degraves Street to discover more than your average cafe. TOFWD (The Organic Food and Wine Deli) offers everything from breakfast-on-the-go, to a sit down menu and dairy-free coffee! A perfect place to meet out-of-towners and locals alike, while ensuring you get to eat yummy, safe food!

Menu caters to: gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, corn-free, egg-free and offers dairy-free coffee (soy, almond or coconut milk).

GREEN PRESS | MELBOURNE CBD

You will find Green Press in the suit-and-tie district, but don't let the men in suits scare you away from this allergy-friendly oasis! At Green Press you'll find cold-pressed juices from a giant juicing machine, healthy (substantial!) salads, acai bowls, quinoa porridge and our all time favourite after meal snack, rolley balls (aka bliss balls). They even have an inspiration board out the front to keep you motivated!

Menu caters to: gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, corn-free, egg-free and offers cold-pressed coffee with almond milk.

ADMIRAL CHENG HO | ABBOTSFORD

Admiral Cheng Ho is the latest eatery from the team behind Monk Bodhi Dharma (in Balaclava) and we think they have outdone themselves, creating one of the coolest allergy-friendly cafes in Melbourne! Our pick are the quinoa pancakes that will leave you screaming "I can't believe it's not gluten!"

Menu caters to: gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, corn-free, nut-free, egg-free and offers dairy-free coffee (soy or homemade hazelnut milk – totally worth the $7!)

LBSS | ABBOTSFORD

This place effortlessly ignites the Fitzroy hipster flame in Abbotsford. The four points of the little, big, sugar, salt compass direct you through the tongue-in-cheek LBSS menu. Having recently cleaned up their act, these bad boys shift away from the gluten-rich to the (let's face it, more on-trend) healthy, green deliciousness that Melburnians love.

Menu caters to: gluten-free, dairy-free, corn-free, soy-free, nut-free, egg-free and offers dairy-free, cold-pressed almond milk lattes.

FEAST OF MERIT | RICHMOND

Feel like brunching towards a better world? This social enterprise by YGAP donates all profits towards education and youth leadership projects from Rwanda to Cambodia. The Feast of Merit breakfast menu is so adaptable it will make you squeal with excitement, and their staff are so friendly you'll want to invite them to your house.

Menu caters to: gluten-free, dairy-free, corn-free, soy-free, nut-free, egg-free and offers dairy-free coffee (soy or almond milk).
