2015 is almost finished, but we’ve got the scoop on all the shiny new things to check out this December in Melbourne! The city is brimming with fresh digs and events, so grab your mates and set the dates – we’re sending the year off with a bang.

QV Outdoor Cinema

Melbourne CBD

Outdoor cinema season is here! This year we welcome CBD shopping precinct QV Melbourne to the mix. What’s best about QV Cinema? They want you to bring your pooch! Set on the astroturf outside the Queen Vic Womens Centre, pull up a deckchair and get ready to catch some flicks under the stars with screenings running through to February 2016. Doughnut Time Pop-Up

South Yarra

Brisbane’s Doughnut Time has landed on Melbourne’s southside and settled in at Topshop, Chapel Street! Veruca Salt (a salted caramel-filled doughnut with cinnamon sugar) and Cate Blanchett (milk and dark chocolate glazed with Tim Tams and white chocolate curls), we’re coming for you. Doughnut Time will be open over the summer so pop in for a box, or three. There’s no judgement here.

The Richmond Yard: Post Apocalyptic Trailer Park Bar & Grill

Apocalypse now! The Richmond Yard is set to offer the best in craft beers and city eats against the creative installation of a post-apocalyptic world. The space will be split into three sections: The Commons - an outdoor lounge and dining area, The Garden - an eco-zone of installations exploring the post-apocalyptic theme, and Residential - a mock-residential trailer park zone. Launching 12 December from 8pm and running every Saturday until 20 February, The Richmond Yard will front beats by live djs and an epic list of Melbourne food names including Easey’s, Mamasita and Burn City Smokers. Get your tickets to the launch here

From 5:30-10pm every Wednesday until 23 December, Town Square will transform into a moonlit market wonder with stacks of stalls boasting killer fashion, stationery and homewares form local artisans. Catch live music, performance art, and chow down on plenty of delicious street food eats.

The City Lane Ice Cream Donut Pop-Up

Ice cream. Donuts. And now, Ice cream DONUTS?! Yes, people. It’s a thing. Thanks to the geniuses at The City Lane (creators of the winning Nutella pop-up) you can now wrap your mouth around a glorious ice cream donut sandwich. Think peanut butter and crispy dark chocolate, Turkish delight cheesecake, and orange and cardamom flavours. Oh and they’re even pairing some winning beer brews to boot. Get in quick as The City Lane Ice Cream Donut Pop-Up is only open from Friday 18 December – Sunday 20 December.

Art fanatics, Ai Weiwei is in town and the Andy Warhol | Ai Weiwei exhibition is ready to launch! Opening this Friday 11 December, the exhibition will explore just how huge an impact these two artists have made on the art world, plus significant parallels and points of difference between their work. Kick off celebrations for the show’s arrival with Friday Nights at the NGV which will also gain you free entry to the exhibit.
