Dad, pops, father, old man. Whatever you call him–we know he’s the main man in your life. He’s been there for you through thick and thin, and now it’s time to return some of that love. And what better time to do that than on Father’s Day? There’s a bunch of things to do all over Melbourne, and we’ve compiled a list with some of the best for you. From Guy Tea, to Tokyo Tina feasts, and Sicilian-style BBQs, your old man will be spoilt rotten this Father’s Day!
Guy Tea at The Stables of Como
In order to help you celebrate the main man in your life, The Stables of Como are hosting a Guy Tea! There’ll be free flowing Peroni, mini wagyu burgers, chicken mini pies, BBQ pork sliders, red velvet lamingtons, and a bunch of other delicious nosh. If dad’s after more of a brekky or lunch feed, The Stables have made a customised menu for that too! Dad will be as happy as Larry at this one.
Bottomless Brunch at Saigon Sally
Saigon Sally knows there’s nothing better than a good brunch feed, and that’s why they’re helping you celebrate Father’s Day with their Bottomless Brunch. Featuring unlimited bubbles, beer, and share plates–you’ll be rolling out of there. There are six delicious share plates to choose from and four separate seatings, so you can book whichever part of the day suits you! Brunch and bevvies are $69 per person, and the food only option is $39. Get ready for those Saigon chilli crabs and sticky lamb ribs drools!
With a love for old school hospitality and good food, Crabapple Kitchen guarantees dad will have maximum happiness this Father’s Day. Unlike most cafes in Melbs, Crabapple Kitchen is one of the few that takes bookings–so you know your epic feed won’t come with a wait time! Not only are the brekky options to DIE for, but you can even grab a breakfast cocktail to start the celebrations off right. Did someone say white peach and cinnamon mimosa?
A St Kilda classic, Fitzrovia brings you and your old man some of the best produce from Victorian suppliers. All their produce is local, sustainable and seasonal–plus they’ve got St Ali coffee! Serving up breakfast and brunch until 3pm (and they take reservations) dad can grab himself crème brûlée French toast, sweet potato and caramelised onion fritters, or some shaved black truffle to enjoy on the side! If the weather turns out sunny, be sure to grab a table outside.
Does dad fancy some rooftop views? Book him into a delicious lunch or dinner at Campari House. The a la carte menu is totally drool-worthy – and is the perf meal to spoil dad with. If he fancies some drinks in the sunshine, head to the rooftop bar and enjoy some light bites! Your old man will feel like the ultimate king after this one.
Father’s Day BBQ at Mister Bianco
After the success of last year’s Father’s Day BBQ, Mister Bianco is back again for the festivities. But this is not your average Aussie fry up, this Sicilian-style BBQ is the ultimate way to treat yo’selves. They have all the meatballs, calamari salad, roast chicken and Sicilian doughnuts you’re after–so you and dad can thank us later. Book yourselves in here.
If you’re like us, you absolutely love Tokyo Tina, but dread having to line up to get your Japanese fix. Loyal fans, stress not. This Father’s Day Tokyo Tina, which is usually a walk-in only restaurant, is letting us make reservations to satisfy our Japanese-style tapas cravings. If you’re hoping to make Father’s Day an even bigger affair, you can hire out their private dining room for the night. Get ready to slurp that ramen, folks. Dad’s in for a treat!
If French food is dad’s thing (or even if it isn’t, it will be after this), Bistro Gitan is hosting an indulgent four-course feast this Father’s Day lunch. Set in an old Victorian building, this French family dining experience is the perfect way to thank your old man for being the legend that he is! While the menu is yet to be published, we’re sure Bistro Gitan will treat us to only the best.
Another one for the French food lovers. L’Hotel Gitan is shouting a similar French feast, but this three-course meal is more of a relaxed affair. Dad will be spoilt rotten with their famous rotisserie and other French classic dishes. It’s the first year they’re serving a special Father’s Day lunch, but they’ve set the standards high. Dad is in for a real treat with this one!
Estelle Bistro has a cracking reputation, so we just know that Scott Pickett’s feast will delight all papas in Melbourne. The fam gets to enjoy a four-course lunch menu, with kiddies having their own personalised menu! Think dry aged beef rib-eye, Yorkshire pudding, and sticky caramel pudding with vanilla bean ice-cream for dessert! We’re frothing just at the thought of this one. So we know dad will too.
A gem of St Kilda East, the Grosvenor Hotel is the ultimate venue to celebrate Father’s Day. Showing off a delishhhh a la carte menu, you can book pops in for either lunch or dinner! There’ll be a huge selection of cold craft beer for dad to sip, some premium beef cuts to feast on. The awesome décor will also give you maximum brownie points.
Show dad how much you love him with some Teeling Whisky. On Father’s Day arvo at 3pm, you and dad get to sip on five different whiskies–each paired with some delicious meat and cheese at Boilermarker House! You’ll also be joined by Australia’s Teeling Ambassador to educate yourselves on the beauty of these amber liquids. For just $40 per person, you can nab you and dad the ultimate afternoon!
High Tea at Melbourne Zoo
If you want to bring out the inner child in dad, Melbourne Zoo has you covered. You can treat dad to a specially planned high tea and Melbourne Zoo, with a complimentary hour to explore the exhibits prior to noshing on your scones. Dad also gets a glass or Fat Yak or sparkling on his arrival. Sounds pretty sweet, huh?
We all know Albert Park is home to some of the best views in Melbourne, and it’s also home to some of the best eats! This Father’s Day, Lord Cardigan is hosting the ultimate brekky and lunch events. Breakfast will feature their standard menu, as well as some specials on the day to suit dad’s appetite. But if lunch is more dad’s thing, he gets to enjoy either the two or three-course lunch option! He’ll also receive a complimentary frothie or glass of vino to celebrate his day.
Dandee Doughnut Eating Competition
Who doesn’t love a doughy, hot, oozy doughnut? We’re betting not dad. If dad wants to make the most of Father’s Day, the Dandee Doughnut Eating Competition might be the way to go. And if dad is able to gorge on the most jam doughnuts, he’ll walk away with $200. Looks like the Dandenong Market is the ultimate place to celebrate your pop’s day.
Australia’s largest brewery has prepared an epic treat for dad. If dad enjoys a cold, fresh beer paired with some smoky, slow-cooked meats, then you better take him down to the Carlton Brewhouse. You both will get to slurp on some of Australia’s best beers, along with an American BBQ buffet. There’ll even be beer tasting and brewing history sessions, and a goodie bag for dad!
