There is so much on this weekend we are going to struggle to figure out where to go! With the weather (erratically) starting to get better, all the foodie festivals and markets are starting to come out. We’ve got a spring high tea, a Zoofari masquerade party and a burger bash at the Food Truck Park to name a few!
Here are 12 awesome things to do in Melbourne this weekend:
Oktoberfest at St Kilda Foreshore
Get down to St Kilda for two days of rowdy Oktoberfest partying! They’re going to have live music across both Saturday and Sunday (featuring the great Shannon Noll himself), food trucks, beer halls, competitions, amusement rides, traditional German food and drink, plus heaps more. It is going to be awesome! Tickets are going to be $55 at final release so if you haven’t gotten yours yet then you can grab them here. Check out all the info on the Facebook event too.
The Food Truck Park continues to deliver! This weekend they’re hosting some of Melbourne’s best burger food trucks! Choose from beef burgers, chicken burgers, veggie burgers, crab burgers and much, much more. Some old favorites are sure to make an appearance plus some new trucks. Check out the Facebook event for more info!
The Australian Movie & Comic Book Expo is back! Formerly the Armageddon Expo, this year AMC have celebrity guests, autographs, photo ops, panels, costumes and cosplay, collectable dealers, gaming, multimedia and interactive displays – it is seriously huge! Tickets start at $15 for concessions and you can grab yours here.
This Saturday, Polēpolē and Glamp are going full safari with their Zoofari Masquerade Party. Running from 11pm to 3am, free masquerade masks will be provided upon entry (which is also free!) and $10 cocktail specials will run all night! Internationally Renowned Burlesque & Snake Charmer Sina King will provide entertainment and Speranza Drum-Live and DJs will be playing across 2 levels.
The Chef & The Lamb
Dry-aged Flinders Island Lamb. If your mouth started watering just from reading that then you’ll want to pay attention! This Saturday Pep Alliance are hosting a lunch and talk with former executive chef of Vue de Monde Group, Andy Harmer, who now heads up The Point, and Flinders Island Lamb producer, James Madden. At $145 a ticket, you’ll be treated to a four-course meal (including the dry-aged lamb Andrew has whipped up) with matched wines in The Point's stunning dining room. Check out all the info here.
Melbourne Comedy’s Rising Stars
After selling out all every show last year, Melbourne Comedy’s Rising Stars are back at the Butterfly Club. Get your giggle on this Saturday and watch upcoming Australian comedians do their thing with all new material. Standard tickets are $32 but are a bit cheaper if you’re a member (plus members get a handy $1 off every drink too!). Check out all the info and grab your tickets here.
Seems like a bit of a weird concept if you haven’t tried it before but the Human Connection Movement’s Eye Gazing sessions are actually really cool! Just sharing some silence and staring into another person’s eyes sounds really romantic (and it is!) but its also a really unique way to interact with people. Definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for something a bit different this weekend. Check out all the info here.
Spring High Tea
Melbourne Venue Co.’s Spring High Tea Series kicks off at Dutchess this Sunday. Their trio of lavish events filled with bubbles, boutique tea and decadent savoury and sweet treats will run for the next three Sundays (at the Vincent and then 505 Wine Room). A $65 ticket will also get you a glass of Veuve Clicquot Rich (and more drinks can be purchased at the bar of course!). Grab your tickets here!
Docklands Blues Music Festival
If you’re looking for a day out this Sunday then the Docklands Blues Music Festival could be a great stop over. The free festival runs all day with over 15 bands playing across three stages. They’ve also got food trucks, licensed seated venues and carnival rides and attractions. Check out all the info and the playing schedule here.
Meyers Place Latin Fiesta
It is time to dance, eat and drink! This Sunday the traders of Meyers Place are putting on a Latin street party. San Telmo, Lily Blacks, Loop Roof and the new kid on the block Pizza Pizza Pizza are going all out with Latin food and drink, Empanadas, Sangrias, Latin arts and crafts and dance classes. You can grab your tickets here to get entry at 11:00 am, or purchase them for $5 at the door from 12:30 onwards!
This Sunday is the Dandenong Market’s 150th anniversary (wow 150, that’s impressive). To celebrate they are hosting a massive Jubilee festival from 10am – 4pm with delicious food, live performances and activities. They have anything you could poke a stick at with a super diverse range of food stalls, from Italian to Vietnamese to Indian. There’s also going to be live music and dancing, an animal farm and old school games and rides. Best of all entry is free! Check out all the info here.
This Sunday is the Melbourne Marathon! If you’ve been training for the last few months then good luck! If you’re the kind of person who can just roll out of bed and run a marathon then well…good on you (we wish we were like you). If you’re not the marathon runner type then don’t fret, going to watch can still be a good day out! Plus there’s also the option to walk a 3km route if you wanted to give that a go. Check out all the info here.
