Melbourne sweet tooths, we have some exciting news for you: Adriano Zumbo, the high priest of pastries, has just announced plans to open Fancy Nance, a new high tea salon in South Yarra. Squeeeeal!
Opening on 27th May, Fancy Nance will incorporate a high tea salon, cocktail bar and bakery cafe in one, with desserts and drinks taking pride of place.
Not surprisingly, Adriano Zumbo is putting his own spin on things at Fancy Nance and doing away with the traditional high tea concept (you weren't expecting him to something textbook, were you?!). Things like cake stands being cast aside in favour of a more tapas style of presentation have all been put in place to encourage sharing* and a more relaxed vibe.
The same train of thought has also been applied to the interiors, with top Melbourne firm Studio Tate tasked with transforming the Daly Street location (formerly home to Mama Baba and Le Grand Cirque) into a decidedly Zumbo-like space. The result is elegant yet experimental, with pink accents and playful details.
It's safe to say this is one of the most anticipated Melbourne cafe and bar openings of 2015!
*I can't promise I'll be sharing my Zumbo desserts with anyone!
