Do you love cocktails, beer and sake? Then Brew Fest is clearly the event for you this month in Melbourne.
As part of the North South Feast West event series at the Immigration Museum, Brew Fest will explore the theme of brewing over one awesome cocktail-lovers day on Sunday 19 June. With a series of cocktail and beer workshops centred on different brewing methods, and events hosted by Hawkers Brewery, Black Pearl and Melbourne’s own Sake Master Andre Bishop, this will be a masterclass in making (and more importantly, tasting) the best that Melbourne has to offer.
As part of your $17 ticket, you can choose between workshops like Sipping With The Sake Master—covering the sake basics and demystifying the drink that has taken our city by storm, as well as tasting (of course!)—or Beers, Bars And Barrels: The Story Of Beer Based Cocktails, which basically just sounds like a beer-and-cocktail-lovers dream. Mazen Hajjar of Hawkers Beer will also be running a workshop about the history of beer in the Middle East, the secrets behind a brewing process that has been practiced for millennia, and some great home brewing tips. Plus sample some delicious Hawkers beer!
If one class isn't enough, additional workshops can be added for $10—or, you can chill in the courtyard for free whilst enjoying bands, DJs, and talks on fair trade, plus a bar and food stalls serving up cold weather food and bevvies.
Just keep in mind that due to the *very important* tasting part of the workshops, all attendees will need to be over 18. But who would want to take the tasting part out of a cocktail or beer masterclass? Clearly not us!
Head to the Museum Victoria website to buy tickets to the workshop of your choice (including entry to all the Immigration Museum exhibits on Level 1 and 2), or just pop the date in your diary so that you can hang out at one of the best winter events this June.
Brew Fest will be held at the Immigration Museum on Sunday 19 June from 10am-5pm. Tickets are $17 and include one workshop of choice (first come basis) and entry to exhibitions on level 1 and 2. Additional workshops can be added for $10, or you can pop into the courtyard without a cover charge, and purchase great food and drinks. All workshops are 18+.
