Hammer & Tong’s Tanked hits Less Than Zero

If you have sampled Hammer & Tong’s menu at their Fitzroy restaurant, or been fortunate to catch their food truck at any of this summer’s festivals (that prawn and candied bacon burger is a thing of dreams), you will understand why we’re so excited about their southside partnership with South Yarra bar, Less Than Zero.

Dubbed Tanked, the latest venture from Hammer & Tong will be serving up a selection of small bar meals and simple sharing plates that reinforce its reputation as one of Melbourne’s best restaurants. Expect decadent takes on traditional recipes as well as new foodie ideas rendered into life using premium ingredients.

The Tanked dishes have been designed to complement Less Than Zero’s well-stocked bar, famed for keeping one of the best collections of Japanese whisky in the city. If you’re in the mood for something savoury to team with a refreshing pint, Wardy’s crispy chicken ribs—named after Tanked co-owner Simon Ward—are the perfect accompaniment to a hoppy pale ale. Yearning for a sugar hit? The maple bourbon stracciatella waffle sandwich is sure to hit the sweet spot.

‘The collaboration with Less Than Zero is a fantastic opportunity for us to explore new prospects and really show Melbourne what we’re capable of,’ says the ever-ambitious Ward.

‘We’ve created an entirely new menu for Tanked, but diners will still get a glimpse of signature Hammer & Tong elements and dishes, as we want to stay true to the heart of our brand and core cooking beliefs.’

Keen to vouch your support for those beliefs by, erm, eating them? We know we are! Tanked at Less Than Zero will be serving up some of Melbourne’s best bar eats from 5pm every Thursday through to Monday, beginning this evening.
