It’s time to charge your camera and drill another notch in your belt because the most aesthetically delicious summer food hub has launched in Melbourne and it’s planted right in the middle of your new favourite urban shopping oasis.
Last month, our very own retail therapy precinct, Harbour Town, underwent a fresh new makeover and stepped back on the retail catwalk as **drumroll please** The District Docklands. Not only is it looking like a red hot contender for the top spot on this season of Australia’s Next Top Shopping Centre, but The District Docklands is promising to pack an absolute punch this summer when it comes to street eats, ‘Grammable backdrops and on-trend summer fashions.
Why are we obsessed with it? We’ll give you three reasons.
#1 Six Rotating Food Trucks
You read that right, every Friday from 11am—9pm until the end of February, The District Docklands will be rolling out the red carpet (metaphorically, not physically) for an all-star lineup of gourmet eats at the Food Truck Park Summer Residency. This weekly fixture means a rotating squad of some of Melbourne’s best players in the meals-on-wheels game i.e. a get-out-jail-free card for leftovers night each week (sorry, Mum). Head down from 4pm to hear the DJ drop some tracks, plus enjoy FREE sweet treats during the month of December (only to the first 300 pairs of legs through the gates, so start running now).
#2 Stunning Street Art
Bring a wet wipe because the food isn’t be the only thing that’ll have you dribbling at The District Docklands because the recent makeover has given the centre a new name AND a delicious new face. Think jaw-dropping backdrops of stunning street art, plus a brand new look inspired by Melbourne’s own iconic laneways and distinctive culture.
#3 Exclusive Summer Fashions
As part of its recent transformation, The District Docklands (nee. Harbour Town) has introduced a new major international brand to its already impressive throng of world class labels. Joining the store directory alongside big names like Forever New, Bonds, Cotton On and General Pants Co. is none other than global retail megastar H&M. And in even better news—the doors are already open.
In addition to gourmet eats, insane street art and exclusive H&M fashions, the new-look shopping and entertainment precinct will also play host to an action-packed calendar of events, festivals, attractions and community activities that’ll keep every member of the family off Netflix and out of the house this summer. Send out a blast on the group chat now, because there’s a lil’ summin’ summin’ for everyone at The District Docklands.
