There’s a new bar and eatery on the Sydney Road block, thanks to the team behind CBD hotspots Chuckle Park, Chuckle Deli and New Guernica. Meet Joey Smalls, Brunswick’s latest bar-kitchen that’s combining the three key ingredients needed to make a new venue pop—awesome food, tasty cocktails and great tunes.
A cosy venue that boasts a courtyard, retro-inspired booths and sounds provided by an ear-worthy selection of local DJs, Joey Smalls plays host to some delicious diner-style food and cocktails with a kick. If you’re not filled to bursting with the smoke’n’salt cantina’s offerings (the full kitchen is due to open soon, and we’re hoping it will be a meaty affair…) then we bet knocking back a few chilli coconut margaritas will do the trick.
Joey Smalls also hosts vinyl-only DJ nights with a focus on soul classics, funk, lounge and whatever else its DJs have lurking in their record collections. You can guarantee you’ll hear a few familiar classics as well as some undiscovered gems. This particular Lister is holding out for a reggae Sunday session. Any chance, boys?
Open til 3am on Friday and Saturday nights, and until 1am on Sundays (which, let’s face it, sounds pretty dangerous…), it’s one for you late-late nightlife lovers. One of the best bars in Melbourne for a laid-back session on the northside? You betcha!
