Melburnians have a ton of options available close by when it comes to fermented grapes—the Yarra Valley, Red Hill, even the Barossa is fairly accessible. But there’s one Australian wine region that has taken a little more effort to access. That could change as early as late-2019.
A planned $60M expansion of the Busselton-Margaret River Regional Airport in WA would see flights heading direct from Melbourne within the next six to nine months, with Jetstar expected to be the airline that takes up the route.
Busselton is a 45-minute drive to Margaret River which sure beats the currently available 3-hour journey south from Perth following a tough 5-hour flight.
The move would also see the opportunity for flights from Sydney, and even Singapore in the near future.
