No longer do vegans need to suffer through a meal of uncooked vegetables and veggie lasagne, with vegan-dedicated cafes like Matcha Mylkbar, Smith & Daughters, and vegan-friendly pho at recently opened GOODays, bringing flavour to the table. Gone too are the days when vegetarians would have to scour the city for a glimpse of a meat-free take away option that wasn’t soggy potato chips and tomato sauce.
Stepping up to the vegan challenge in Melbourne next month, the Preston Food Truck Park is hosting an entirely meat-free food truck festival to celebrate World Environment Day! Rolling in this June for two days only, exclusively vegan and vegetarian four-wheeled truckies will be permitted at this feel-good event. Running from 5pm to 10pm on Friday 3 June, and 12pm until 10pm on Saturday 4 June, Melbourne foodies can access some of the cleanest, mouth-watering street food we’ve seen all year.
Expect some of Melbourne’s favourite food trucks including Vegilicious, Rice and Dice, and vegan sweet treats from Von's Vegan Bake House. Local Fitzroy favourite Grace will also be serving irresitable cakes, pastries and coffess out of their Grace caravan. Whoever said that vegan food was tasteless? Clearly, they severely underestimated Melbourne’s boundless creativity when it comes to food.
Entry is free, so head to the Facebook website for all the veggie-licious details!
