The Designs For Melbourne’s New Metro Tunnel Stations Have Been Released

It’s been a long time coming, but the station designs for the new Melbourne Metro stations have just been released—and they’ve got a bit of everything.

While none of our suggested names made the cut when it came to finalised names of the stations, Town Hall, State Library, Anzac, Parkville, and North Melbourne station will all have different aspects to them.

The architects behind the project—Hassell in conjunction with Weston Williamson and Rogers Stirk & Harbour and Partners—have definitely not reached for the cookie cutter on these designs, with each station design referencing the heritage of their location.

North Melbourne station, for instance, will feature a massive large-scale brick arched entrance to reflect the industrial heritage of the area, while Parkville will have a glass feature roof and tree-lined view leading to the nearby health and education precinct.
