Clear your calendar, because Westfield’s Taste. Shop. Play is back for another weekend of epic pop-ups brimming with drool-worthy eats, makeup tutorials and creative exhibits.
It’s all going down on Saturday and Sunday, 7-8 September across seven Westfields in Victoria. So, no matter your postcode or preference there’s sure to be something for everyone.
With retro fashion trends gracing the catwalk, the resurfacing of mullets and Stranger Things taking the world by storm, it’s clear the 80s are having an epic resurgence. If you’ve been contemplating trying the trend out for size, the time is now, with a mass of 80s-inspired pop-ups about to surface near you.
If you’re looking to teleport back to a time when synths were big and hair was even bigger, Westfield Airport West will be bringing the biggest and best 80s hits with a live DJ while Westfield Knox will boast an epic retro arcade and bar (win). Westfield Plenty Valley, on the other hand, will be showing off all things glam with a retro beauty and hair bar and if you’re out Westfield Southland way, put your game face on and get stuck into some giant retro games like Tetris and Jenga.
If that’s not enough of a nostalgic trip down memory lane, head to Westfield Fountain Gate and experience ‘The Mall’. Showcasing a number of fashion and styling events over the weekend, the pop-up will explore how to rock comeback trends, as well as give you the chance to personalise your own hair clips with a complimentary blow wave or crimp (yes, crimp!). Plus, for those keen on getting amongst some retro games like giant Tetris and Rubix Cube, you can hit up ‘The Arcade’, complete with DJs playing all your favourite old-school tunes.
Food, Glorious Food
Loosen your belts for some feeds of epic proportions.
Westfield Airport West are making our sweet dreams come true with a Retro Treats Bar serving up sweet lolly bags with every gold coin donation towards 2019 Local Heroes Finalists, while Westfield Fountain Gate Geelong will play host to a delicious diner serving up retro food and creamy spiders.
If you’re out Westfield Doncaster way, be sure to hit up the Doncaster Diner. Bursting with 80s-style food, it’s the perfect place to gorge after a long, exhausting day of shopping.
The weekend will also be filled with bountiful opportunities to flex your creativity muscles. Westfield Airport West will deliver a retro craft workshop, thanks to the creative geniuses at See Make Play, while Westfield Geelong will give shoppers the opportunity to learn how to nail the art of terrariums.
If you’re not too crafty and your go-to destination is the beauty counter, you can’t go past the retro beauty masterclasses at Westfield Knox. Learn how to master the hottest 80s trends making a comeback today in fun and interactive workshops.
