We’ve got some excellent news, Folks. As you may well know, one of our absolute favourite cafés, Grub Food Van, has been dabbling in dinner for a few months now. They first dipped their toe in the pond of evening events with their inaugural dinner back in June. And now it’s time for the Social Food Project’s return, this time hosting Stories Over Summer: Spring Edition, and it’s set to be an absolute cracker.
Held on Monday, 19 September, the guest speaker will be Jessica Christiansen-Franks, who is CEO of Co-Design Studios. Jessica is a socially conscious design wizard, working as an urban designer and landscape architect. Jessica has spent the past ten years looking into the social impact of urbanisation and regeneration projects across Australia, Canada, UK and Asia. Her work with Co-Design aims to create great places that build social connection and inclusion, that, most importantly we can all enjoy.
The menu for the night will be created by Grub Food Van’s very own Ben McMenamin, who also happens to be the founder of the Social Food Project. Ben will be creating the menu with a strong focus on using quality, local produce that’s available and in season. Much of the produce is sourced from waste-reduction initiative, Yume.
“Sharing food has an incredible effect on people. They feel more comfortable to share their stories and connect with each other through similar food experiences," says Ben.
Tickets to Stories Over Summer: Spring Edition are $85 each and include a three-course dinner with matching drinks.10% of the ticket price will be donated to the AFSA Legal Defence Fund to help support local farmers improve food systems in Australia.
