You may recognise Black Star Pastry’s Strawberry & Watermelon Cake if you’ve dabbled in the Sydney food scene or even treated yo’self to a cheeky ‘zert at Melbourne’s most recent Night Noodle Market in November. Fortunately for those of you who are yet to experience this sweet baked magic, today’s your lucky day because owner and creator—Chris Thé—has announced Black Star Pastry’s move to Melbourne and literally everyone is losing their mind.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, dessert GOD Chris revealed that Black Star Pastry will be setting up shop on Carlton’s University Street on February 20 for three gloriYASSS months.
The Melbourne menu will feature the all-time crowd favourite–the Strawberry & Watermelon Cake (they are literally selling 5000 slices a day in ol’ Sydney), along with a phresh-faced Raspberry Lychee Cake, Orange & Persian Fig Cake and a Black Sesame & Yuzu Cake. Coffee served will be courtesy of Sydney artisan roaster, Little Marionette, tea will be delivered by Tippity and the overall store will be aiming for a carbon neutral rating because why stop at life-changing desserts—let’s change the world too.
The space will only seat 20, which means we’ll be lining up for daaayz, but it’ll all be worth it for that sweet sweet ‘gram, amirite foodies?
Black Star Pastry will be located at 56-66 University Street, Carlton, and open Monday to Saturday 9am-8pm; Sunday 9am-3pm. For a closer look at their menu, check out their website.
