Thursday 28 December

Sunset Cinema

There’s something about watching a movie outdoors on the big screen that just screams summer, and we can totally dig it. Pack a picnic and grab the mates, because Sunset Cinema kicks off this weekend. They’ll be playing movies like Bad Moms 2, Captain Underpants (#throwback), and Goodbye Christopher Robin. Grab tickets here. Oh, and don't forget the wine.

Splashland Opens

Bring out the bathers, coz Melbourne’s very own pop-up waterslide park opens on Thursday 28 December. And it’s not just one wimpy waterslide, it’s a bunch of super cool, somewhat scary rides with names like the Launch Pad (excuse me, what?), Speed Racer, Crazy Maze and Trippo. Sounds like a good time. You don’t want to miss this. Snag tickets here.

Watch The Goonies at Rooftop Cinema

Hey, you guuuuys! Rooftop Cinemas is gracing us a blast from the past by screening The Goonies tonight. Bring popcorn, your best Goonies quotes and relive your childhood by going on a classic adventure with the Goonies gang. Kids born in the 80's, we expect to see you there!

East Creek summer sessions

A new winery opened on the Peninsula and it’s hosting a summer session on 29 December. Make it a BYO picnic and enjoy views of the vineyard while listening to live music. They’ll be showcasing new wines from Kerri Greens, plus ice-cold beer from Hop Nation. Sounds like the perfect date if you ask us…

Christmas Lights show

Feast your eyes on the state of the art light installation that illuminates a 15-story building on Sunday 31 December. It runs from dusk to midnight each night, for five minutes on the hour, every hour—so you really can’t miss it. The coolest part? It literally reflects how the weather is feeling, so what you’re seeing will be a visually stunning artistic representation of the weather around you. Sick as!

New Year’s Eve at CBD

Still unsure about what to do for NYE? Skip the Uber surge and take the train to the middle of all the action to watch the fireworks in Melbourne CBD. There are four spots you can hit up: Treasury Gardens, Docklands, Flagstaff Gardens and Kings Domain. They’ll have free live entertainment leading up to and following the fireworks display, plus food stalls and toilets (we know you worry about these things). Make it a hassle-free night and say sayonara to 2017.

NYE 90s house party

We know you’re stuck in the 90’s, so why don’t you celebrate like it? Head to The Local Taphouse to get jiggy with it on NYE. The rooftop bar will open at noon. Score! Play Super Mario Kart and Street Fighter II on the big screen, dress up and snag a 90’s priced beer from 7-8:30 pm. We'll take a one-way ticket back to the 90's, please.

Stomping Ground NYE

Recovery dumplings

I don’t know about you, but we found evidence that suggests that eating dumplings the day after a big night out is the ultimate hangover cure.
