Pink is the new white, friends! It’s nearly summertime and that means that it’s officially rosé season.
Rosé has rightfully earned its position as white wine's summertime partner in crime: it’s crisp, refreshing, fun, inspires the best laid-back summer vibes and goes perfectly with our fave summertime nosh. Yep, rosé really is the nectar of summer.
Here are 5 of our favourite Margaret River rosé wines that we will be drinking all summer long. Everything is coming up rosé!
2015 Mon Tout Rosé
Howard Park’s Richard Burch has embarked on his own little labour of love and the result is Mon Tout Wines—a small-batch winemaking project all about crafting a selection of handpicked grapes into high quality wines with purity, balance, character and uniqueness. The experts say this rosé is a three-dimensional experience, exploring nuances of flavour and palate textures and length. I say it is really, really, delicious and really, really quaffable! The name ‘Mon Tout’ is French for ‘my all’ which is kinda perfect really…cos this is going to be my all when it comes to rosé drinking this summer.
2015 Aravina Estate ‘A’ Collection Rosé
Aravina Estate may be the hottest winery down south at the moment for their amazing and unique foodie offerings (big ups to chef Ben Day!) but their wine is leading the way too. You may know this winery as Amberley, but since 2010, Aravina has been making some of the most divine wines in the South West. The 2015 ‘A’ Collection Rosé is light, fresh, fruity and lip-smackingly tasty, and will most definitely be one of my go-to rosés this summer.
2014 Stella Bella Skuttlebutt Rosé
Lively and tangy, Skuttlebutt is a slang word that refers to idle gossip, innuendo or rumour. A few glasses of this and rest assured, the gossip will be flowing! Here, shiraz, merlot and sangiovese converge to form a rosé that packs a fruity punch! It’s everything you want in a rosé plus it’s electric pink in colour and who can say no to that…certainly not me.
2015 Bunkers 'Windmills' Shiraz Tempranillo Rosé
Ahh I love this little surfie winery (they name each of their wines after a surf break down south) and their focus on serious wines for not so serious people. Pale salmon-pink in colour, this rosé is bold and a little bit spicy but still perfect for getting your summertime drank on. It’s a good one to accompany a big meal, as opposed to drinking it on it’s own!
2015 Laurance Wines Rosé
Home to the famous ‘chick on a stick’, the crew at Laurance also make some damn fine rosé. It’s the most expensive of the lot but worth every penny in my humble opinion! Made from 100% Grenache in the traditional European style, it has a dry finish but is still super refreshing and lively. A perfect summer dinner party rosé!
