Splashing out on a delicious meal in one of Melbourne’s best restaurants is where most of our hard-earned cash disappears here at The Urban List HQ. Thanks to some of Melbourne’s top chefs, there’s a host of our favourite eateries that are offering amazing deals on their latest menus. These culinary masters love feeding Melbourne’s finest so much that they’re offering to go halves with you on your bill. Yup, that’s right—50% of whatever you eat will be covered by them, meaning you’ll be eating out for half-price. Win!

The amazing deal is part of an initiative run by Dimmi, the restaurant booking service. Not only does Dimmi let you lock in a table at many of Melbourne’s best restaurants (because goddamnit I am sick of spending half my evening queuing in a freezing stairwell), they have also partnered up with some mouth-watering venues to provide Melbourne’s food-centric community with exclusive offers.

Need an excuse to give up cooking this week? We’ve selected our picks of the best Melbourne restaurants who are inviting you to dine for half-price. More booking, less cooking!

#1: The Roving Marrow

Carlton

The Astor Hotel in Carlton has been transformed into one of the suburb’s best new dining spots under a new name, The Roving Marrow. With Cape Grim porterhouse steaks, freshly shucked oysters and free-range pork belly with smoked apple and celeriac all on the menu, this is one you’ll want to book in asap. The perfect after-work dinner spot if you’re a north-sider.

#2: Punch Lane

Melbourne CBD

Somewhat of a hidden gem, Punch Lane is a laneway dining institution that comes with an intimate atmosphere, a separate menu dedicated to cheese (hell yes!) and an epic wine list. Tucked off Little Bourke Street, the wine bar’s full restaurant menu includes gruyere soufflé, roast quail, wagyu beef tartare and one of the most delicious gingerbread desserts we’ve scoffed down all winter. If you’re in need of a CBD date venue, make it Punch Lane.

#3: Lona Pinxtos

St Kilda

Tapas, sangria and awesome company… Is there anything better?! Lona Pinxtos in St Kilda is the ideal spot for midweek tapas and cocktails. The plates are perfect for sharing and, at 50% off, they’re an INCREDIBLE bargain. Gather your mates and get stuck into a spread of Flinders Island saltgrass lamb ribs, juicy fish tacos, charcuterie, jamon and churros, and let the good times roll.

#4: Speakeasy Kitchen Bar

South Yarra

Headed south of the river? Speakeasy Kitchen Bar on Chapel Street is home to amazing Americana fare including Philly cheese steaks, epic fried chicken burgers, crumbed prawn po-boy subs and mouth-watering three-cheese mac’n’cheese. If you’re being good, the Speakeasy team also serve up a great ancient grains salad, all of which you’ll find for half price if you book through Dimmi. This includes lunchtimes too… The perfect Friday lunch pick!

#5: Casa Ciuccio

Fitzroy

Never heard of Casa Ciuccio? Gertrude Street’s cutest bar-restaurant for sharing a few nibbles and negronis with mates is one of the best restaurants in Melbourne for fresh tapas-style dishes. The menu features some unique inclusions such as pork and apricot terrine, grilled ox tongue and twice-cooked octopus, but it’s the charcuterie that we’re loving. Lock in a date at Casa Ciuccio and, at half-price, we can guarantee you’ll be back for more.

#6: Kobe Jones

Melbourne CBD

If you love Japanese food, you NEED to get to Kobe Jones, the river-side CBD eatery that holds the title of one of the best Japanese restaurants in Melbourne. The ten-course set menus are basically the Rolls Royce of Japanese dining, letting you try everything from oysters served in sake, to yakitori skewers, to some of the city’s best sashimi. Seriously, this is a rare chance to eat like an Emperor for less, so you’d better take it.

#7: Riva

St Kilda

Sometimes nothing beats a sunny afternoon spent sipping on a glass of sparkling while overlooking the dock. Riva in St Kilda is a fantastic spot for an al fresco meal, especially if you’re a seafood fan. Think Spring Bay mussels, freshly caught calamari, salmon served with capers and basil butter… Whether it’s a get-together with the girls, a dapper lads’ lunch or a family celebration, half-price dining at Riva is a must-book.

#8: Simply Spanish

Melbourne CBD

Paella! Tempranillo! All the chorizo you can possibly eat! Simply Spanish is a cracking choice for a CBD meal that’s full of Spanish flair. You’ll love the buzzing vibe at this restaurant almost as much as you’ll love the freshly pan-cooked paella. Our top pick for a mid-week lunch or dinner with mates that’s likely to roll onto a cocktail bar in the city. Hey, you saved on dinner, so why the heck not?
