The NGV Is Throwing A Huge Crossword Festival Next Month

#6 Down. Nine letters. Word puzzle that often appears in weekend papers.

If you couldn’t crack that one, this festival might not be for you...The NGV is teaming up with The Good Copy (a writing school in Collingwood) to chuck a FREE three-day crossword party in March. A festival where the clues are cryptic, the pencils well-sharpened and the anagrams fiendish.

The Festival Of Crosswords, Spelling & Grammar is part of Melbourne Design Week. And all word nerd jokes aside, this thing actually sounds like a lot of fun. There’s going to be cryptic crossword classes (with the devilish Liam ‘LR’ Runnalls from The Age), an on-stage Spelling Bee, an Airing Of The Grammar Grievances (‘10 Items Or Less’, we’re looking at you) and obviously crosswords galore.

You can either kick back on the bleachers with a crossword and a pencil, or get cracking with members of the Collingwood Crossword Club (yep, that’s a real thing).

Best of all? They’re running a do-or-die, battle-to-the-death crossword tournament, which will culminate with a final showdown on Sunday. Word.
