The north side of Sydney never ceases to impress us with their fantastic eating, drinking and shopping options. This time we are shining the spotlight on Lower North Shore hotspot, Cammeray. With some of Sydney’s best cafés, bars and restaurants to call its own, Cammeray is truly a suburb to keep your eye on.
Eat and drink
Fittingly tucked into a small laneway in Miller Street, this popular Cammeray café offers a sun-drenched outdoor seating area and a glorious food and beverage menu to match. For breakfast, we simply cannot go past the Laneway's ultimate morning burger, complete with hash brown and bacon. It’s the perfect cure for a bigger than planned Saturday or Friday night! If you’re in the area for lunch then the pulled pork sandwich features apple slaw and iceberg and is the perfect midday feed to satisfy the soul.
Next door to the Laneway you’ll find Ms Miller, a Cammeray restaurant offering picture-perfect lunches by day, and a romantic candlelit setting at night. Named after Cammeray’s main street, Ms Miller will seduce you with the dimly lit interiors, and rustic exposed brick. The fun Spanish inspired menu is designed to share, with plenty of specials throughout the week to mark in your calendar. Every Wednesday, their mouth-watering paella is on offer, while Friday Happy Hour drinks give you an extra reason to celebrate the end of the week. Grab a cocktail and settle in under the lights.
With its spacious modern design and bright, open layout, The Public is an inviting space to eat, drink and spend quality time with friends. In terms of food, the menu caters to all tastes by offering a delicious selection of Mediterranean-inspired dishes for you to share (or not share if you’re that way inclined). To kick-start the night, we recommend trying the chickpea and tahini hummus and pita bread, followed by their Greek style BBQ free range chicken which features potatoes, tabouleh and charred lemon. If you’re after a more classic-style pub feed then The Public has also got you covered, offering all your favourites like chicken parma ‘n chips and bacon double cheese wagyu beef burgers. Be sure to wash it all down with one of their nine beers and you will be ready to go public with your love affair with this Sydney bar!
Wild Sage offers modern Australian dishes that cover a range of occasions, from brunch catch up with friends to sunny al fresco lunches to intimate and romantic dinner dates. Situated within the Stocklands complex of Cammeray, this Sydney restaurant is constantly buzzing with patrons and with one glance at the menu, you will understand why. If you’re keen to try something for brekkie beyond smashed avo on toast (it’s hard, we know), then we suggest the pea and sweet corn fritters served with rocket, grilled tomato and either smoked salmon or bacon. For dinner, we suggest you grab some friends and indulge in their set menu, featuring tapas sampling plates for entrees followed by three mains to share and your choice of coffee or T2 loose-leaf tea. That's $39 well spent if you ask us!
The Hunted Store
With a strong focus on Australian designers and businesses, The Hunted Store has quickly become a retail favourite for every Cammeray local and visitor who calls in. Offering carefully chosen, quality products from local businesses, this store is full of unique products from furniture, cushions and blankets to stationery, books and body products. This cute little store caters for women, men and kids alike and is a must visit if (cough, when) you are after a touch of retail therapy after your Sunday morning brunch!
No precinct is complete without a good quality butcher and deli, so fortunately Cammeray has the famous Hudson Meats in town! Following a ‘paddock to plate philosophy’ the Hudson team specialises in sourcing regional produce and directly liaising with farmers to ensure customers receive the highest quality products on the market. Not only is this healthier for you, but it also assists in improving the welfare of animals and put an end to environmental degradation. So if you’re after anything under the category of eggs, poultry, meat or dairy, then make sure you come say hi to the friendly faces at Hudson’s!
