When we helped break the news about Etsu Izakaya’s first ever Feast Under A Tipi pop-up dinner, you lot went crazy and almost broke the internet.
Subsequently, the intimate two-night event sold out before the majority of you had a chance to reach for your credit card, and there was an eager waitlist a mile long.
Team Metropolist was lucky to nab a small handful of tickets, and we can report the night was ridiculously good fun and more magical than we could have imagined. Though, let’s be real, this is Etsu after all and of course they were always going to knock it out of the park!
With a combo of the top-secret location under trees adorned with twinkling festoon lights, a dreamy tipi set-up, effortlessly flawless service, impeccable five-course Japanese eats prepared on an outdoor robata grill, flowing wine and sake (matched to each course!), epic company, tunes by insanely talented duo, The James Street Preachers, and the all-round good vibes, we were truly transported to another place. Srsly peeps, it was one of the most memorable Gold Coast outings of our year thus far.
It was always intended Feast Under A Tipi would become a quarterly thing, and your overwhelming curiosity has ensured round two is already in the works with new dates just announced. What’s more, they’ll be expanding to three nights and attaching one extra tipi. Wowza! We told you it was going to be huge!
Fresh wasabi root was the theme of Etsu’s inaugural “Winter Wasabi Wonderland” (who knew it could be so delicious?!), so we can’t wait to learn what’s selected as their star ingredient for spring.
Feast Under A Tipi’s spring event will take place over three nights on Friday 11, Saturday 12, and Sunday 13 of November (that’s right, a Sunday night added specifically for you dedicated hospo folk!) and popping up in a new secret location that will only be announced to lucky ticket holders.
Now that we’ve got your attention, Etsu kindly requests you to be patient. Feast Under A Tipi tickets will be released from Friday, October 14 so set an alarm, mark the date in your diary, whack a sticky note on the fridge, just make sure you’re one of the first to secure your seat at what’s certain to be one of the hottest things to do on the Gold Coast this spring.
