A range of takeaway cocktails from Gold Coast's Mamasan restaurant and bar.

COVID-19 has taken a lot from us, but one of the things we’ve been missing most is cocktails. Whether you enjoyed them with a quiet dinner or out on the town, there’s no doubt they’ve left a hole in your booze-loving hearts that can’t quite be filled. But, thanks to some COVID-19 rules, Gold Coast bars are now able to serve takeaway wine, beer, spirits and best of all—cocktails.

We’ve rounded up the best places on the Gold Coast to grab yourself a cocktail to go right now, but as always during these crazy times, we’ll be updating it on the regular so check back often and make sure you’ve got ice in the freezer.

If you’re looking for the best takeaway cocktails on the Gold Coast, start your search at Mamasan. Offering pick-up and delivery for some areas on the Gold Coast, if you can bypass their sake list (good luck!) you’ll be rewarded with a cocktail list that will help you forget that you’re actually missing out on anything at all. Try the Tokyo Rose with Belvedere vodka, lychee, pear, yuzu, rose  and cranberry or set the night’s tone with a Shogun Assassin, made up of Nikka From The Barrel, Nikka Yoichi, Angostura bitters, sugar, sesame oil and orange. Check out their Mamasan’s here.

Wildernis Cafe And Bar

Palm Beach

Let the fiesta begin! If you’ve got a hankering for a good swig of housemade sangria then Wildernis Cafe and Bar’s two-litre offering for $35 should hit the spot. Not feeling it? They’re also mixing up one-litre lychee martinis, espresso martinis and margaritas, and just when you think it couldn’t get any better, they even deliver straight to your doorstep. Mr Hizolas

Burleigh Heads

Burleigh’s Cantonese joint, Mr Hizolas, is doing you a solid while covid-19 keeps our watering holes closed. Along with pumping out takeaway eats from 5pm to 8pm every night of the week, the crew are also pouring lip-smacking cocktails into 200ml ($14—serves two people) or 700ml ($45—serves four people) bottles for you to enjoy at home. Choose between the espresso martini, chilli margarita, coco mojito, quarantini and Hong Kong spice. Check out the full menu, here

Mr PPs

Order a pizza and truffle fries with a side of epic cocktails this week from Mr PPs. With gin, vodka, white rum and tequila cocktails on the menu, pick your favourite of these cute bottled tipples for only $16. We’re swaying between going old school with a negroni or old fashioned, or mixing it up with Mr PPs Garden—a gin, St Germain, apple and lime juice concoction. Check out the takeaway list here, then call 07 5634 9587 to put dibs on what you want. And if you live in the 4215 area, these guys will deliver. Boom!

The Scottish Prince

Palm Beach

Nothing goes better with The Scottish Prince’s mouth-watering, belly-warming eats than a cocktail, so we were thrilled to hear they had added booze to their takeaway menu. You can grab brews and vino too, but we reckon your best bet is to work your way through all eight of their cocktails starting with the simple and sweet, Jameson Whiskey and fresh apple—juiced to order—and ending with The Beet-Rayal with Ardmore whisky, creme de cassis, Brookie's slow gin, lemon and beet grenadine.

Burleigh Heads

You might not be able to hang in Rosella’s quirky, federation-style premises right now, but you can get around their nosh and Aussie-inspired bottled cocktails that will blow your mind. In terms of takeaway cocktails on the Gold Coast, they’ve got six tasty options ready for the drinking. Two of our picks? The Zooper Dooper Spriz is made with Rosella’s Aperol, Prosecco, Kakadu plum and Zooper Doopers, and comes served with a bunch of Wizz Fizz; and The Northern Rivers Highball includes Husk pure cane, Brookie’s Gin, apple guava, Prosecco syrup, lime and Quandong with a side of Fads Fun Sticks. Order yours here.
