Gold Coast eateries are dishing the vegan love like never before, with Burleigh Pavilion next to announce a fabulous plant-based pop-up event.
Sydney’s The Green Lion, is bringing a 100% plant-based bistro pub grub pop-up to your favourite beachside hangout.
For one night only on Thursday 19 September, devour your favourite greasy, cheesy, smoky and fishy pub classics without animal products or impact. The Green Lion team recreate the tastes and textures commonly found in animal-based ingredients through a range of unique and interesting ingredients and substitute recipes.
Held over two seatings, the dinner event kicks off with a vegan cocktail on arrival before sitting down to share loaded poutine fries with gravy and ‘cheese’, mac and cheese balls with aioli and pickles, and prawn and calamari with Asian slaw for starters. Next up, there’s potato pizza with caramelised onion, truffle oil and blue cheese, BBQ ‘chicken’ with gouda, mozzarella, red onion and BBQ sauce, of course, the classic cheeseburger with a plant-based twist. Then, finish on a sweet note with the ultimate chocolate brownie. Vegan wine will be available to purchase at the bar, and DJs will be spinning, so you can dance the night away after your vegan feast.
“This menu doesn’t read like it’s plant-based and sure doesn’t taste like it,” says Justin Tynan from Burleigh Pavilion. “We can see a growing demand for plant-based options but also reckon people who’ve never even thought about eating vegan will be blown away by this food.”
Given the Coast’s warm embrace of the vegan movement, we expect tickets will be snapped up fast, so don’t dilly-dally.
