GABS Beer, Cider & Food Festival

Over three days this weekend, the Royal Exhibition Building dome will host a beer, cider and food festival of epic proportions as part of Good Beer Week. This festival-in-a-festival will showcase over 400 beers and ciders, many of which have been produced exclusively for GABs by the finest Australian and NZ producers. With an amazing selection of local food vendors like Huxtaburger, Milk the Cow, Mamasita and Hammer & Tong, your stomach will be well-lined for the drinking ahead. Also on the agenda are education classes, circus performers, roaming musicians and rides on a specially installed giant ferris wheel (no jokes!). Guys, this isn't one to miss—so secure your tickets to a session here

The Violet Sisters by The Owl & Cat Theatre

The Owl & Cat Theatre are nailing it with their contemporary plays, all done on a budget of $100 a show. Their new play is set in the wake of hurricane Sandy, when the protagonist comes home to attend her father’s funeral and is greeted by an angry sister, a dilapidated house, and a past that she cannot escape. Opening night of the St Kilda Film Festival

Do not miss the opportunity to celebrate the unique talent of this year’s featured Australian filmmakers at the St Kilda Film Festival. The wonderful Palace Theatre will host 3000 guests for the launch of the festival, featuring samples some of the best on offer in the 2016 program. Friday 20th

Brews Springsteen at Lulie St Tavern

If you haven’t yet been to a Good Beer Week event because you’re strapped for cash, you have no excuse here folks as this one is FREE. Lulie has planned a tap takeover by Thunder Road Brewing Company in the newly opened Marfa Art Gallery, directly above the tavern. Local musos will be playing Springsteen classics live upstairs, whist downstairs DJs will be spinning waxed hits. Flame-grilled morsels will be served from the courtyard til late. 

Welcome to Thornbury Food Truck Park

If food trucks and cocktail jugs won’t get you into the weekend spirit, we’re not sure what will! Welcome to Thornbury is boasting a killer truck line-up this Friday evening, with Roadrunner Fried Chicken, Mr Burger, Fancy Hanks, and many more stopping by to fill your bellies with all the street food goodness you could ask for. 

YOMG Glen Waverley Celebrate Their 1st Birthday With Free Burgers

Fan of all things burger-flavoured and free? One of our favourite burger joints turns one this week, and is celebrating with—you guessed it—free burgers! Head along to the Glen Waverley YOMG this Friday between 11am and 12pm and nab yourself the ultimate (free) Friday lunch. Just make sure you say Happy Birthday while you're there!

Saturday 21st

Zoofari Party at Glamp 

Zoofari is throwing a FREE jungle party at Glamp this Saturday night that will not disappoint. The theme is ‘wild’, and the line-up even wilder, with live DJs, drummers, dancers, body and face paint artists, drinks specials and special burlesque performances. 

Fiesta Malaysia at Federation Square

What better way to immerse yourself in the Malaysian community’s diverse culture than through their food? In addition to the presence of Mebourne’s most legit Malaysian eateries, there will be live performances, traditional games, competitions and much more. Better yet? The event is free. Tequila Master Class and Dinner Ole at Smith & Daughters 

Touted as the ‘Elvis’ of the tequila industry, Tequila Tromba’s Master Distiller, Marco Cedano, is set to arrive in Australia for the first time ever—and our favourite vegan joint, Smith & Daughters, is hosting a dinner to celebrate.
