They say never trust a seafood restaurant in a city with no ocean, so it'd be reasonable to conclude that Perth, with its pristine coastline, would have some killer seafood dishes. And we don't have to tell you how right that conclusion would be.

We've been blessed with some of the best seafood the world has to offer, and that makes us pretty dang proud to call WA home, so an ode to our home town, here are 12 of our favourite seafood dishes in Perth, from the cheap and cheerful right through to the best stuff money can buy!

Miso Cod | Nobu

Burswood

Nobu is the ultimate spot for seafood fans, and while it's on the pricier side, it's worth every single penny. The miso cod is a standout but you could order any of the dishes on the menu and you'll walk out impressed. Next time you've got reason to celebrate, you know where to go.

Vongolae Spaghetti | Lulu La Delizia

Subiaco

Lulu La Delizia does good pasta. Actually, Lulu La Delizia does good everything, so it's no surprise their seafood pasta dishes are among the best in Perth. The vongolae spaghetti with garlic, chilli and white wine salsa is simple but so full of flavour, you'll want to drink the sauce right up. While you're there, you might as well try the kingfish too—it is nothing short of amazing!

Salt And Pepper Squid | Bathers Beach House

Fremantle

As the very first venue in Australia to wrangle a license to serve alcohol on the beach, the guys at Bathers Beach House don’t mess around—not with alcohol and definitely not when it comes to seafood. Their sea salt and pepper squid complete with aioli is fresh, crispy and addictive—plus it goes really well with a cold beer.

Giant Split Prawns | A Fish Called Inglewood

Inglewood

On the corner of Ninth Avenue and Beaufort Street, A FiIsh Called Inglewood is offering gluten free fish ‘n’ chip batter, homemade ice cream and a dine-in menu that’s to die for. The highlight is their giant split prawn dish that you’ll probably confuse for a crayfish at first, but on second glance you’ll realise that it’s not, in fact, an illusion and giant prawns really do exist.

Crispy Whitebait | Cott & Co Fish Bar

Cottesloe

While it’s not for everyone, fried whitebait is a dish you’ll find all over Europe, particularly in Greece and thank the lord it’s made its way to Cott & Co. Think chips—that are actually tiny fish—fried and served with aioli, a much higher protein and much more delicious alternative to the ol’ potato chip.

Whole Shark Bay Blue Swimmer Crab | Clancy’s Fish Bar

City Beach

Yes, indeed a whole crab is being served for Crab Shack Thursday’s at Clancy’s Fish Bar in City Beach, for those that are up for the challenge. Complete with a bib to keep your shirt clean and crackers, Clancy’s serve it up with rich Thai curry paste, Thai basil, coriander and a steamed coconut bun, dwarfed against the sheer size of this delectable looking crab.

Fish And Chips | Cicerello’s

Fremantle

If there’s one thing this old Freo fixture is known for, it’s their good old fashioned fish and chips served in paper, just as they did in the yester years. With full vantage of Fremantle’s fishing boat harbour either from the jetty or the upper deck, Cicerello's fish and chips can be enjoyed right there, or take them away to your favourite picnic spot.

Teriyaki Salmon Bento Box | JBento

Mt Pleasant

Tucked away in the ‘burbs of Mount Pleasant, this stylish little gem is dishing out some of the best looking (and tasting) bento boxes in Perth. Our personal favourite is the seared salmon which is glistening in the finest teriyaki sauce known to man. If you ask us, JBento just might be the closest thing to Japan this side of Perth.

Carpaccio | Il Lido

Cottesloe

The sashimi of Italy, Il Lido’s salmon carpaccio served with radish, a glug of good-quality olive oil and fresh herbs is unsurprisingly spot on. While their menu changes frequently according to the season and local availability, you will never be short of fresh and expertly curated seafood here.

Sardines | Brika

Northbridge

For a Greek twist on seafood, it really doesn’t get much better than Brika’s Fremantle marinated sardines served with smokey charred bread. A highlight of their incredible menu, Brika is the go-to for seafood and Mediterranean lovers alike.

Spiced Fried Shark Bay Prawns | Kailis Trigg Beach

Trigg Beach

With panoramic ocean views and a charming Hamptons style venue with tall exposed rafters, there’s more than one reason to pay a trip to Kailis this summer. Everyone loves a bit of fried food now and then and their spiced fried Shark Bay prawns are a hard one to go past. Topped with chilli, fresh herbs and served with sweet whipped avocado—they are nothing short of delish.

Soft Shell Crab Burger | The Chippery and Co

Northbridge

While it hasn’t been around for long, The Chippery and Co is already famous for its fried soft shell crab burger packed with coleslaw on a charcoal burger bun and topped with a couple of gherkins—eat this and you can die happy.
