When we love something we really, truly LOVE something! And that’s exactly how we feel about our new relationship! Some things just go together. Like cookies and cream, Brandon and Brenda… The Urban List and MINI!

Our two families have collaborated to bring discerning readers and drivers a new fortnightly series – MINI Fave 5s. The must-try guide to Sydney, celebrating the launch of the new MINI 5-door hatch!

So, Urban Listers, clear the diary and get excited for our Fave 5s. There’s a whole year of eating, drinking and discovering to be done…

We’re sure you’ve noticed our never-ending love affair with cheese in all its forms, and, if our observations serve us correctly, you feel just as strongly about this life-altering food group as we do.

Some would consider these Sydney cheese shops to be facilitating a serious addiction, but we don’t care if this dairy goodness gives us some seriously questionable dreams—nothing comes between us and our cheese.

So you’re never free from fromage again, Listers, we’ve compiled our fave five Sydney cheese shops, for your eating pleasure.

Formaggi Ocello

Surry Hills
A good fromagerie is like a creamy light at the end of a stressful tunnel, so cheese lovers regularly flock to this Sydney cheese shop for some party favours, gifts, or even an evening of cheese and wine consumption (is there anything better?). The guys at Formaggi Ocello will even whip you up an all-cheese wedding cake for those who prefer a face-full of fromage on their big day.

Blackwattle Deli

Sydney Fish Markets, Pyrmont
Yes, you read that correctly, the Sydney Fish Markets also cater to the cheese-us freaks among us. This Sydney cheese store is manned by a team of hard-working, and ever-so-slightly cheeky, folks that love to chat cheese as much as we do. Be sure to pick up some delicious gourmet smallgoods to make your Blackwattle Deli selection a hit.

The Cheese Shop

It’s not all BMWs and tennis skirts down in Mosman town (really!), the guys behind The Cheese Shop have been in the business of satisfying our hunger for 30 years, so you could say they know their stuff. We challenge you not to get distracted by the range of gourmet goodies and chocolates alongside the cheese.

The Stinking Bishops

We die peacefully and go to cheesy heaven at the mere mention of Sydney cheese shop, The Stinking Bishops. This Newtown cheese emporium offers a vast selection of fromage, from creamy goats cheese to crumbly cheddar and all that’s in between, as well as a full food menu that you can pretend to peruse before you order five courses of cheese.

Salt Meats Cheese

The name says it all—all of your deli goodness in one very large building, also known as the happiest place on earth. A world of cheesy goodness awaits at this palace of smallgoods, where spending your entire pay packet on providores is all too simple and every bit necessary. You can usually spot us there, getting way too excited and juggling seven free samples of all Salt Meats Cheese has to offer.

We're thrilled to partner with MINI to bring you our Fave 5 series—our fortnightly guide to the best of the best in Sydney. From food to fashion, Campari to Crossfit, each Fave 5 edition is researched and recommended by The Urban List, and driven by the new MINI 5-Door Hatch—putting the city at your fingertips and giving you the freedom to explore it!
