But good news, there’s plenty of great things to do this weekend that’ll have mum embracing a new love for brow appreciation and practicing her beer-tasting skills. So if you’re looking to spoil Mum this weekend—or yourself, you’re only human—we got you.

The Bakers Bento

It finally happened: South Yarra Bakery Proof is in the Pudding went and made a dessert bento box. Think chewy cinnamon blondie with a caramelized white couverture spoon, handmade sprinkle medley, an assortment of luscious creams, and Proof is in the Pudding's signature 8-hour dark chocolate fudge. Think you’re done salivating, think again. Even your spoon is edible…and that’s pretty much life changing.

Architects Of Beauty

This event is an absolute must for beauty-lovers, featuring beauty insights, tricks of the trade, amazing masterclasses and interactive presentations. One lager espresso coming right up! Beerspresso is making your wildest dreams comes true by combining all the greatness of a beer and all the smoothness of an espresso into one great venue. Tallboy and Moose are holding the event, which will see eight local brewers and eight coffee roasters collaborating to create beer brewed with coffee. At just $39 a ticket, you can enjoy a taster of each coffee and a 130 ml serve of beer (whilst chatting all thing caffeinated with the Beerspresso professionals).

Melbourne Comedy’s Rising Stars

The Melbourne International Comedy Festival may have wound down, but you can still get the nation’s hottest young comics at Melbourne’s Comedy’s Rising Stars, live at The Butterfly Club. The night will be hosted by Michael Shafar (SBS’s Raw Comedy and writer for The Project) and will shine a light on future comedy greats, including Sam TauntonBen Knight's StuffJonathan SchusterAlex WardDanielle Walker and Stuart Daulman.

The Brewery Circus  

As the famous Homer Simpson once said  “Ah, beer, my one weakness. My Achille’s heel, if you will.” The idea of enjoying a circus show whilst drinking some beer from Australia's largest state-of-the-art independent brewery seems pretty cool, right? Well this weekend you can do just that, thanks to the crew at Hawkers Beer. The night will include Melbourne’s best circus artists and music from Melbourne’s own Halcyon Drive along with the Fancy Hanks BBQ truck, which tends to manifest whenever there’s this much beer in one place.

Beer and Food are two words in the English language that never fail to impress. If you’re feeling slightly under the weather after a big Saturday, it’s probably a good idea to try some hair of the dog and hope for the best. Doctor’s orders. The Good Beer Kitchen has you covered this Sunday with a sensational long lunch of beer and food. The event will be hosted by RRR’s Cam Smith and feature grub from chefs Nick Bennett, Matt Stone, Troy Wheeler and Renee Trudeau. To quench your thirst (or fight the hangover) there’ll be beers flowing from the Balter Brewing Company, Two Birds Brewing, Stomping Growing Brewing Co and Pirate Life Brewing.

Mothers Day At The Langham

If you’re looking for a way to completely smash Mother’s Day out of the water, while putting your siblings to absolute shame, you simply must book a table at The Langham's Mother’s Day Dinner. Mother's Day Banquet At Armageddon Cake 

If you happen to be down in Geelong on Mother's Day, you might want to look into this. Sorry, that made it sound like a suggestion—you NEED to go to this. Armageddon Cake (hereby holder of the best business name of all time) are throwing a 10-course Mother's Day dessert banquet, featuring the most ridiculous cake we've ever heard of: 10 slices that include a Fantails caramel fudge tart, chocolate mousse layered with Bertie Bettle pieces, a Milky Bar mud cake with ganache, a gummy-bear infused rainbow cake (the f**ck is this!?) and a white chocolate tart with NERDS inside it. Safe to say, leave the skinny jeans at home.

Starward Distillery World Whisky Day

Heads up, whisky nerds. Local label Starward are hosting a World Whisky Day Party their new Port Melbourne distillery. It’s a bit like when all those kids got to venture inside Willy Wonka’s factory, except odds are you won’t be turned into a giant bottle of whisky. There'll be whisky flights galore, the chance to tap your own bottle, straight from the cask, the Fancy Hanks food truck and a Starward bar choc-full of small batch whiskies you can't get anywhere else.
