Wild-looking desserts and Instagram go hand in hand; that’s why we’re super excited that Black Star Pastry is bringing its celebrated cakes back to Melbourne, at a summer pop-up in St Kilda.
With over one million slices of Black Star’s famous Strawberry Watermelon Cake served each year in Sydney, its iconic status was confirmed when the New York Times recently declared it "the world's most Instagrammed cake." Sounds pretty intense but we’ll trust their stats on that.
The Strawberry Watermelon Cake features almond dacquoise, rose-scented cream and fresh watermelon that has been macerated in rosewater for hours, all strewn with strawberries, pistachios and dried rose petals—and it takes a whole day to make.
The pop-up opens Monday, 25 November, directly underneath Rain Room’s Jackalope Pavilion. So you can hit up the Rain Room and then have delicious cake afterwards; sounds like the perfect day.
