A century-old music institution in Collingwood has just put the rock and roll in fried food. Collingwood-based venue, The Bendigo Hotel, has a colourful past of foiled robberies, axe-wielding nutsos, band room scuffles and dance floor brawls, but nothing will stand out from their vibrant history more than their newest menu addition—deep fried tequila bites.
Obviously inspired by nothing other than pure genius (and maybe eight or nine pints), the national heroes over at The Glory Hole kitchen—The Bendigo Hotel’s in-house restaurant—have taken Silver Patron and turned it into something that probably shouldn’t be legal, but hey, this is the dark side of Melbourne where there’s not a single salted caramel cruffin in sight.
In addition to innovative menu items that won’t allow you to drive home, The Glory Hole serves up triple cooked chips, vegan pie, and a host of ‘classic pub meals, stuffed into a roll’.
Open from 3pm until late every day but Tuesday, there’s no longer any excuse not to head down to The Bendigo Hotel in Collingwood for a tray of deep fried tequila in the beer garden, with a healthy side of heavy metal. Unless it’s a Tuesday.
Where: Bendigo Hotel, 125 Johnston Street, Collingwood
