Big news in the Melbourne food scene with the announcement that local chef and the brains behind Maha, and Biggie Smalls, Shane Delia will be opening up a new venue in Windsor.
Maha East will set up shop at what was Biggie Smalls Windsor at 36 Chapel Street, and will showcase a more relaxed side to the Middle Eastern cooking you would expect at Maha.
“To put it simply, I am not opening another Maha. Our signature Bond Street restaurant will remain our flagship, it would be extremely difficult to recreate what we have there. I have a brilliant team that loves the venue and my Head Chef, Daniel Giraldo, is cooking some seriously amazing food,” says Delia.
Maha East is expected to be a casual and easy going place that will feel like home for the food spoiled residents of the top end of Chapel Street.
Dishes on the menu will be loosely inspired by Middle Eastern cuisine in a share-style form. The well-known 4-course banquet will be available alongside an à la carte menu featuring meze items, larger dishes, vegetables, and dessert.
Maha East is slated to open on Thursday 27 June. You can pre-book at mahaeast.com.au.
