Well, in bloody bonza news, Windsor just got itself a new Australian-focussed bar—and it’s bloody magnificent.
While you won’t find Galah amongst the gum trees, you will find it perched above St Kilda Village Accident Repair, and right across the road from Kate Middleton-inspired café Middletown.
Your first impression of Galah will invoke a truly Australian experience—walking into a bottle shop. Ideal for a couple of travellers on the way out.
After heading upstairs you’re greeted with a massive warehouse space which has come a long way since it was purely storage for the downstairs panel beater. Large metal industrial beams prop up the saw-tooth roof, and the walls of roughly painted exposed brick are exactly what you’d expect from a Melbourne bar.
Cocktails are the star here, and there’s an Aussie theme running through the options. Tear into Four Pillars gin that’s been muddled with wild hibiscus and eucalyptus tea, or grab your mates and pick up a Negroni garnished with gum leaves.
The Sheila Margarita hits all those cool summer vibes, with lemon myrtle, Trombo tequila, and Australian finger lime.
There’s also a range of craft beers, Aussie gins and whiskies, and other spirits from around the globe.
On the food front you’ll get delicious bites of Kangaroo, lemon myrtle chicken, oysters, and everything else you’ve come to enjoy from your years on the land girt by sea.
