Looking for foodie things to do this weekend? Well, my friends, have you come to the right place! All porcine-loving foodies can go behind the scenes at Hudson Meats' Breaking Down Pork Demonstration. You'll learn the craft of butchery, from the different cuts to specialty breeds. All this, plus a glass or two of vino and a Hudson Meats antipasti. We'll meat you there!

As you have probably gathered, we've well and truly made the most of truffle season! And, my dear friends, we'll continue to do so tonight at the No. 8 by John Lawson Truffle Dinner. The 6-course menu features truffle-infused delights such as wild mushroom and truffle risotto, New Zealand blue eye cod with truffled celeriac purée and pig's tail crust, braised beef short rib with truffled potato purée and caramel gastric….oh dear lord! This truffle-y feast is topped off with matched wines.

Melbourne foodies should also check out Best's of Great Western Dinner at Tea Room. Winemaker Justin Purser will take guests through vinous heirlooms and current expressions and executive chef Ian Curley will prepare a delightful 4-course menu to accompany the drops. What's on the menu, you ask? Crispy tripe with pickled onion vinegar, ravioli of house-smoked trout, whole-roasted lamb, radicchio and walnut salad, a glorious cheese platter…Yep, we're salivating too!

This Friday night, Gertrude Street will be lit up with the works of talented projection artists for Gertrude Street Projection Festival. Back for its seventh year, the festival will see laneways, shop interiors and entire buildings lit up with artistic inventions, every night from 18th-27th July, from 6pm 'til midnight.
Head to the opening night party at the Fitzroy Beer Garden, go on the Porcelain Punch Circus tour of Gertrude Street, or catch a documentary screening at MAYSAR. Whatever you do, make sure you head to The Catfish, where Anna Go-Go Academy and The Burn-City Queenz will be keeping all entertained into the wee hours of the morning.

Shoppers, still not sure where to spend your wages this weekend in Melbourne? Dinosaur Designs is hosting their huge annual sale, offering 30 to 40% off recently discontinued styles from Ocean, Dream, Abstract and Classic ranges, as well as up to 80% off their classic archive pieces. While there are heaps of things to do in Melbourne this weekend, the Tastes of Central Geelong Festival is one event we're willing to leave the city for! Running until the 27th of July, the festival boasts over 180 foodie events, with everything from degustation dinners to fun cooking classes on the program. This Friday is Food Truck Friday, with the state's favourite culinary automobiles descending on Geelong for an epic lunch. Oh truck yes, we'll be there!

Burger fans, you don't have to leave the toasty confines of your abode to get your hands on some delicious nosh and booze. Liquorun have extended their offerings to Huxtaburger, meaning you can get their famed beef 'n' buns delivered directly to your door! A Friday night in never looked so darn sweet.
Sooo, from the above you may have gathered one of our favourite things to do is eat food truck fare (hence our only slight stalkerish list of Melbourne food trucks). So if, like us, you can't be bothered chasing them around town, you'll be glad to know a few of your faves are setting up shop at Trailer Park. This Saturday and Sunday, we'll be heading to Trailer Park at Ormond Hall to dig into the goods from Greek Street Food, Beatbox Kitchen, Rue de Creperie and Korean Fried Chicken Truck. Don't fret if the weather is less than ideal – there's a heated indoor dining hall and a fully stocked bar sure to keep you warm.

This Saturday, Pozible HQ is hosting Jafflechutes Winter Party. Jafflechutes is exactly how it sounds –jaffles in parachutes are dropped from a distance right into your gob. Head to the Collingwood office to celebrate Jafflechutes' recent return from the Throw Sandwiches at Americans and Canadians Tour (props for the excellent name) and wish them farewell as they head back to the States to set up shop. There'll be free drinks (Little Creatures or Pagan cider, no less), giveaways and, of course, some flying, cheesy treats. Yum!

The Tour de France Pop Up Bar & Cinema is teaming up with SBS's Cycling Central for an epic night of DJ-spun tunes, tasty eats and French cocktails, all while the race is broadcast on the big screen. Those in need of some pre-race sustenance can dine on Fancy Hanks BBQ, while a fully stocked bar will keep cycling enthusiasts hydrated throughout the night.

Design-lovers looking for arty things to do in Melbourne this weekend needn't look further than the Melbourne Design Market. Held underground (oh how Melbourne!) at the Federation Square car park, this biannual market features stalls from the city's best designers, as well as jazzy music, tasty eats and sensuously strong brews (coffee, not beer). This Sunday marks their 10th birthday, so head to the market with credit card in hand to help them celebrate in the most appropriate way possible.
